The journey begins - purchased a truck.

It's funny how the Venn diagrams of this forum and other platforms cross over - for the ones that have been on here for a decade or so, a lot of us know each other, have reached out - whether to help in emergencies, knowledge, advice, or even just a cup of coffee and a face to the name.

I'm sure we all occasionally wonder "What happened to that guy anyways?"

I almost feel sorry for @Oxbow and @tramm01 , and somewhat @sawmill - for their location alone, less traffic out in the west, and greater distances between folks.

@okiedokie was nice enough to take some time out of his day and we went to lunch in Bend,OR after I unloaded. Hell of a nice guy, and he's smart enough not to have owned a truck, but has driven everything and everything in a long career. I needed the sit down after the intensity of the unload logistics.

 

Take it off the rig, lay her in the sand, bury her in the ground - I don't care - just sign here.

 

Not terrible sir. A bunch of stories involved. I should have stayed another night with you guys to be honest, I wound up at the Boise stage stop for 36 hours at highs about 105 degrees.

There were 5 tanks in total. 3 LS guys, 2 outside carriers. One OC followed me in sans a valid permit in OR to Burns. The other OC said his load got hit in SLC, but the evidence looked more like driver error. Had a small hole in it. Will need certified repair.

One LS guy had "DEF issues", got towed into Cheyenne - turned into blown turbo (2 year old truck).

Receiver didn't want to receive tanks till all 5 were on site, but I'm guessing shipper and agent were in communications together and somebody is paying for another crane appointment when the broke down truck gets there , probably repowered. It won't be there till Monday, and I was concerned we were all going to be stuck till Monday too.

I did get an 'attaboy' from agent and receiver for organizing comms between 5 drivers, agent and receiver - despite the damaged tank and broke down truck, they obviously had a lot on their plates outside the trucks that did manage to get the load there safely without issues.

@sawmill doesn't know it yet, but if he's not otherwise busy, I'll drop in to his new digs and adjust my clutch brake. Sawmill Truck and Trailer Repair has a new location, even Google told me so. Place had some great potential when I last saw it. Might even to get late lunch.

Reload opportunities are a bit sick out here. A Phoenix to GA 62' long stunk badly of DAT reposted LS agent BS - so I left that one alone. There's usually a reason why $13K loads swell to $20k loads over a weeks time, and details are scant and mealy mouthed when you do dare to enquire.

 

I'll hold you to that. I'll buy your cold beer - that'll leave 28 for me.
