Hi. I'm not asking this sarcastically, but in all seriousness as I'm trying to understand.

What is so wrong with having the opposite thought process as what you are saying? Why is it necessary to make more money vs going back to a company driver? What's wrong with compatible pay yet having a little more freedom? What's wrong with a walk away lease testing the waters and learning how to manage your business and getting experience being an O/O, if not technically? What is the difference of making 1000 a week as a company driver and putting away a 100 a week to buy a truck (for example) or grossing 900 a week while making a truck payment? Why do I need to make 1700 a week as a lease purchaser to be happy? And why is it a big deal if it doesn't work out? If I make 1000 as a company driver or 1200 as a lease purchase driver, sure you can say that all the money I paid towards the truck is a waste, but I'm still at right around same salary as company driver.

Again, I may be looking at this completely wrong, so forgive my ignorance. I'm really just curious.

Kevin Rutherford can explain a lot of the owner operator info at www.letstruck.com

You will have no more freedom as a fleece purchase driver. And yes the money you flush twards a truck is a waste. Send the money to me lol.....I can put it to better use.

I am dead serious. Don't do it. I will make it simple....you are paying their bills. These companies make more money off the fleece purchase than freight. Conway ( now bought by XPO) is currently embroiled in a lawsuit over the contractor/employee issue.

Go to Kevin Rutherfords site and get the info. Also....don't do any more skewed up math to try and convince yourself that doing a LP is the way to go.

Tell you what.....when you call these companies tell them you want a copy of the LP documentation to review. Don't fill out an application. Just give them the basic minimum. Your name, driving experience and moving violations.....THATS ALL. DO NOT FILL OUT AN APPLICATION!!! Do not give them your SSN either.

Tell them you want to consider them and want a chance to review the lease first. If they refuse or tell you that you need to fill out an app first......cross them off your list. You will find that many fleece purchase carriers don't want to send you the info because they don't want you to see the scam.

If they do send you the paperwork let a trucking attorney or OOIDA review it and discuss it with you. Don't listen to truck stop BS telling you do go and do a LP.

Feel free to message me if you wish.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it, however nobody is telling me to do a lease purchase nor am I at this time. I was simply asking questions that you were unable to answer, which is fine. First off if I'm doing a l/p and clearing 1200 a week after payments, but as a company driver I'm making 1000 a week, you are mistaken if you think I would have extra money to pay you? If I was making 1500 a week company driver, then sure, your point is valid. As it stands, it's silly.

I am in now way debating a lease purchase is a bad deal or that you aren't paying the companies bills or that you will never own the truck. I can understand all of that, even if it's spouted by less than intelligent people.

All I was asking was why should I care if I go from making 900 a week to 1200-1500 a week. That's all. I'm attempting to learn about something I don't know so I have the correct way of looking at it.

I don't know where to start. I can answer your question in full. Like I said feel free to message me.

A lot of it will hinge on The lease agreement. Some companies will put a repossesion on your credit if you give the truck back.....or turn in the truck and owe money. This is why I said to get the contract in your hands and review it with someone that is knowlagable. The devil is in the details my friend. You don't want your credit destroyed or ruined.

The thing is you can't just figure on the static math of making so much money vs another amount. It will change. When it comes to LP all company load coordinators will cherry pick what loads the company trucks will grab.....and show the unsuspecting LP the rest. The funny part is the LP drivers actually believe they are picking their own loads lol. Little do they know they already been cherry picked over.

I know many sucessful company drivers that thought they could bring their A-game as a LP driver....they thought wrong. The carrier holds all the cards on the LP driver.....not to mention you are on the hook for all the inflated payments and charges they nail u for. They have dominion regarding what you will and will not pull.

Like I said the meat of your question is in the contract. It really is.
