Been a while, my last dry bulk job [97-98] I was amazed how the [at that time] newly redesigned Gardner Denver blowers were much quieter yet very efficient and reliable. they had the reputation of being the loudest on the market in the 80's.

Roots were good but repairs can be problematic as you 'time' the blower lobes with a long feeler gauge while others used the gears [with keyways] while the roots had no keyways...

The loaders would often Vacuum 8 - 10 loads a day with the GD and had no problems.

    Your mileage may vary...

Saw a first. I’ve seen dust collectors get blown across a parking lot, or out into a field, but never the entire top of a silo.

One of our drivers was unloading (cement) and the entire top of the silo blew off. This place has been giving a bunch of us fits with longer than usual unload times and a few of us have complained to them that something wasn’t right.

It normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour to unload cement at this place. That had increased to an hour and 45 minutes or so.

I rolled in to unload fly ash and saw the top of the cement silo (with the walkway railing still attached) sitting in the middle of the parking lot.

    Rut row!

Ive blown some socks off the bag house and made it “snow” flour before but never that. Guess they found the problem there.:eek:

@Long FLD I think it was you a while back that was wondering about the weight of a 3 hopper Heil. Caught one this morning, although I can not find a model number on it anywhere (do they even put those on trailers? Never had reason to look before.)

Anyway.... 3 hopper with aerators, air ride, auto inflator on stupid singles, 1614 cubic feet, 45 foot total length.

    9440 pounds empty.

I’ve been off work taking care of some things. Here’s some pics I’ve taken over the last couple months.

Lowering your standards to drag a J&L trailer? I remember you don't care for them.

Been a while since I been here. The virus really slowed things around here for a while. With a warm winter around here, the power plants aren't running hard, most of ones we service are shut down. So it was really slow. The cement work is always dead in Feb/March, and usually starts picking up in late March. Not so much so this year. I was laid off from Late January (I did work a little in that time), came back to work Mid March for two weeks and then laid off again for the Virus. Was off all of April.

But, as of now things are crazy busy. I'm hauling cement for a huge warehouse job which should last until late June, with another right after that. Our other guys are just doing our normal daily runs, but they're pretty busy too.

The outfit I'm hauling for switched cement suppliers again. This crap is coming from the Martinsburg,WV Argos plant, (formerly Easroc) and that place friggin sucks. But, it unloads sooo nice. 35 minutes to unload. I'm running two a day along with a load of lime to a power plant, so it's a 12 hour day when things aren't screwed up at Argos. The three loads combined pay really well, too.

I had to drop mine loaded and grab one because our customer didn’t have room and I had a load appointment to make. I wasn’t happy about it. Lol

That plant was always screwed up when it was Essroc, and with the way Argos is, I ain't surprised it's not any better!
