Yes and no. I thought I would try the same thing but:
1. What if the line is solid?
2. It was difficult for me to find DOT specifications for the length of lines and spaces between lines on the internet. I suspect you would need to request this information from the county or state or whomever is responsible for such things. And they likely will not give it to you without a FOIR or a court order.
3. Even if you were to obtain the above specs, what is the actual accuracy of the road painting machine? IMO you would need to go to the scene and actually measure them (which is what I did).
In the end, what I measured the distance between some buildings and used that instead but that still requires you to go to the scene and take measurements.

Yeah, you may need to go measure distances if you have to appeal. Videotape the measuring.
-
Use your forehead mounted cam to look at the speedometer and GPS speed readouts as well as the speed limit signs you are driving past.
-
Yeah, put those electronic gizmos to work for you instead of against you. They keep track of speeds. The only problem is you'd need to get the records from your outfit, and I don't like begging for anything from somebody who can use it to have power over me.

Buy a cheap one so when you’re the one in the wrong you can just throw it out the window.
Hegemeister, RustyChops41, bottomdumpin and 3 others Thank this. -
Just pull the card out and throw THAT out the window.cmrdev Thanks this.

Become an expert at swapping the cards while on the move, driving. If you know you are wrong, toss the evidence.
cmrdev Thanks this. -
The company I drive for has a camera in all the trucks. They are mounted inside at the top of the windshield. Any time there is a hard brake or impact the last 5 minuets and every thing afterwards is immediately sent to safety or saved in the cloud if the truck is destroyed. I have seen several incidents and it’s pretty incredible. And has saved a couple of drivers a lot of grief.
-
But could cause more grief....If I needed to show a crash video to the police right there on site, I'd have to wait until somebody at my company sent it to me, meaning I wouldn't be able to show it to anybody for possibly days? And if I have to hard brake, I'm sent to the principal's office like a little kindergarten kid to explain myself to somebody who probably doesn't have a CDL? No thanks.

I've used one since I had a driver get caught up in road rage and ram me. He should have gone to prison. He then stood outside my yelling at me until he heard the Velcro. He got strangely calm real fast then, went back to his truck and waited fir the police.
