I’ve had a driver recently that was hired and first load was yesterday. After he picked up first load he stopped for gas and used the company card to get fuel , while doing so he got a $300 cash advance with no consent just stole the money without telling , I begin to text him and he said now you owe me 60 dollars and said he wanted to be paid everyday instead of weekly , mind you we pay all our drivers weekly, that’s how the business is ran , No week in the hole. He then begin to tell me if I don’t send him the money for that active load that he would leave my truck on side of the road along with the load. Calling me out my name , I kept it professional. My last driver mother died so he wanted some time off , losing her was hard for him. Which is the only reason why we needed a new driver. So terrible
The switch up

Call the DOT scales and have the truck impounded. Probably be cheaper to send a driver there to recover the truck.
Accidental Trucker, Another Canadian driver, Rideandrepair and 11 others Thank this. -
Sorry to hear that. He wasted absolutely no time showing you his true colors. I think I would meet him at that first delivery and take my truck back.
Aamcotrans, fordconvert, NightWind and 10 others Thank this. -
Probably an addict of some sort. You better get on top of this real quick and get him out of that truck.
Maybe meet him at the delivery and remove him from the truck yourself. And quit texting in a situation like this, it’s weak.fordconvert, MIT, Another Canadian driver and 16 others Thank this. -
Even if I hated a company or trucking company owner, I'd never do that.
fordconvert, Another Canadian driver, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this. -
Another Canadian driver and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Employment is 'a will' text him his termination; then report the truck stolen and load hijacked so, at best, he gets the matching chrome bracelets he so richly deserves. If he dumps the unit it will already be on the hot sheet and the PD will find what is left of it. If substance abuse is present there may already be damage to your truck.
Rideandrepair, JoeyJunk, Coffey and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’d have a repo team staged at his next stop or location that he stops for a 10.
I would much rather shell out a couple grand to secure the asset then give the dirt-bag an inch.
OP, I’m in the northwest currently if I can be of any help..My resume is filled with crazyNightWind, Another Canadian driver, JonJon78 and 9 others Thank this. -
At this point if you only lose $300, plus drug test cost, you’ll be money ahead to get rid of him.
Like Midwest said, meet him and boot him.
Another Canadian driver, Tropsnart, Rideandrepair and 6 others Thank this. -
I agree. If your truck has GPS location, I'd call the state police where he is & have them run him down or stop him at a scale house, rest area etc. Have him arrested for theft & recover as much of the $300 as possible. Then send someone after the truck.
If not, have the local police detain him at the receiver or something. For certain, he'd pay the price for that.... in jail.Another Canadian driver, Rideandrepair, JoeyJunk and 7 others Thank this.
