Electrical more or less. A few switches would turn on randomly. 4 ways, trailer aux (trailer dump valve), cruise would turn off, the PTO kicked on one time while driving, the dome light switch in the door corroded and none of the interior cab lights would work, the LCD am/fm radio screen would stop working and you had to shut the truck off and restart it to get it to come back on. The green lights that indicate whether or not a switch is on are very bright at night. I distinctly remember putting black tape over the cruise control and engine brake switches because they glare directly in your eyes going down the road, and they do not dim with the dimmer switch. This was all in the first 20k miles.

Now for the opinionated portion of the post...Personally I hated the truck. It would run very well, but you had to keep it wound up to 1800 for it to climb the slightest hill. At 70 MPH in 18th gear it ran 1400 rpms and would fall on its face when you started up the slightest incline. In 17th you were around 1650 and still had to grab 16th now and then. The 63"? mid roof sleeper was fairly roomy, but I'm 6'1" and couldn't stand up straight in the sleeper, had to tilt my head to the side to get dressed. Beautiful truck inside and out, but it seemed to be very cheaply made. Like rushed to get off the production line.

From what I have read, the X15 efficiency gives you just as much power as the X15 performance, but it makes its power at a much lower RPM, like the 1500 range as opposed to the 18-1900 range. If it were up to me and it was my personal truck I'd probably choose that

What were the issues you've had with aero trucks?
As Amodel says they all can be junk.
I have a '15 579 Pete and the few issues I have had have nothing to do with the make or model of the truck.

Thanks for the reply, I had 2 X15 efficiency 500/1850s in company trucks, and they both exploded by 120 000kms. I know exactly the problem you had with that performance having no power, buddy had the same issue, turns out the overhead was set wrong from the factory, and the dealership never took it out of “valet mode” when doing the PDI. He ended up going to a Cummins shop, they set the overhead and reflashed the motor/emission system, ran it on the Dyno and it was making proper power after.

Oh dude lol, I could write a book about it. I will just speak to my 579 I had company, which was a 16 ISX ultrashift. Biggest issue was rattles, everything rattled, even the dash. The ultrashift blew apart twice. It had constant problems with driveshafts and the sleeper leaked water from various places. It was my second favourite company truck tho. I won’t mention the ISX, cause we all know about those.

Yea I was quite disappointed, my Volvo is the quietest one I've had so far. The company I was with at the time, had such bad luck with those Pete's, they went back to FL exclusive.

That DD16 Turbo Compounder is something else, a buddy just got one, so we will see how it does.

I'm trying to get away from that, I would like a 10 year truck for once.

I've got a 2021 Peterbilt 579 and I am experiencing some of the same issues BigHoss had.

Rattling. The dash is rattling more than it should considering it's age. The plastic on the steering column gets bad at times.

Water leaks in from time to time. (Typically when the truck is thawing out after being someplace cold for a while; water will start dripping in various places).

I concur with AModelCat's statement, they're all junk these days. Furthermore, the prices for new trucks are insane.

Personally, I'd sooner buy an old piece of iron and restore it like new, than buy brand new after seeing the quality of new trucks. (All brands).

I've got a 42 year old Kenworth A-cab gutted down to a bare shell. Besides a rotted out rear frame and rusted firewall (both of which I have replaced) it was rock solid. The cab may be primitive in terms of comforts but I highly doubt ANY model of truck cab built today would make it through 20-odd years of pounding up and down logging roads without some major issues.
