Have you approached OD there in Denver?
I know they say 12 months, but I've heard several conflicting stories as to whether its local or OTR.
personally, if you've got clean local experience - you'll make a better OTR driver than half these muppets out here.

I've been at home for 4 months, and time I get this shoulder fixed it will likely be 3 or 4 more. I thought about applying to some of these outfits just to see how many insist I need a refresher after 8 months out of the truck. Not that I'd ever work for any of them, but it might be fun to see what kind of answers I'd get, seeing as I've got almost 30 years in. *note to self- add Navaho to the list*

What, exactly, does 'fluffleduffed' mean?
That is truly one of the funniest non-words that I have ever come across.
Just to make it clear...

Trucking companies don't want no OLD FARTS.......They know.....that WE KNOW when they are trying to mess with us....They want someone they can train "their way"......

What company was it?

I think in this case, Navaho may be "un-trainable"

Keep trying C Jade. Newer drivers are exposed to rejection. Most LTL companies start their new drivers out as road drivers and you have to work your way into a P&D position. For them reasons they want OTR experience as you are potentially exposed to interstate driving. Though driving is driving regulations and insurance requirements do vary. -
First, your conclusion is a non sequitur.; it's not necessarily "you can't be trained", but perhaps "we aren't going to do it". OTR is different, a lot more demanding than LTL, and a whole 'nother lifestyle few find to their liking. OTR requires you manage your truck and your HOS to ensure you're the driver who can be counted upon to usually have hours to run and be physically and mentally ready to run them. As an OTR driver you need to know your way around the country . With fuel prices being what they are out-of-route miles get expensive fast. The differences in LTL and OTR could make a book... that no one would buy.Skydivedavec Thanks this.

I think it has a lot to do with hometime, (or lack of it). I'm sure companies get burned very often with spending money and time training people who think they can do it until they actually try. In Spanish we say "no es lo mismo llamar al diablo que verlo venir" (it's not the same thing calling on the devil than to see him approaching).
Keep looking, I'm sure you will find something. Good luck!Skydivedavec and DoneYourWay Thank this.
