We've come a long ways since the old NWD 62s. Did you know, the 1st portable reefer was made by a black man, Frederick Jones in 1942 for troops overseas. I say black, because he gets little credit for changing the world of portable refrigeration. His idea was carried over into the trucking world, making the old "blower and bunker" units obsolete. Todays drivers have no idea the hassles with older reefers. Remember that long fan belt that would always fly off, and you dasn't dare run out of fuel. Starting in cold, oh yeah, wasn't a job for the meek.
