Third Quarter Results Released

If I am reading that correctly, that 5 star rating is not a rating for USA Truck but rather a rating of the accuracy of the company doing the market analysis of USA Truck. Look at the problem this way. Last year when Celadon bought $6 million worth of stock, if they had held that stock it would be worth less then $2 Million today. All of the people that have invested money in the company are taking a beating. If someone comes along and makes these investment companies an offer they can't refuse and can get more then 50% of the USA Truck common stock, USA Truck will then come under their control. That's the major part of having your stock so low, it becomes low hanging fruit and somebody just might come along and snatch it.

 

I was watching animal planet the other day. There is this toad called the Pebble Toad. Its very small. Its only method of defense against its main predator (a type of tarantula) is to take a free fall. Its very light so the free fall doesn't really hurt it. Watching the free fall though was very similar to watching USA stock in the past few months.

 

Yeah, like they really needed to bring in a transportation consultant to tell them they were booking too many short trips?? Hell, I been telling them that on a weekly basis for a year and a half. What part of the math do they not understand? The more miles the truck rolls, the more revenue they genrate, the more the driver makes, yada yada yada. I can get where I'm going with a 10 year old atlas with at least a half gallon of coffee splattered on its dog-eared pages, and a GPS that constantly says "recalculating" and the friggin directions on the qualcomm that says turn lft where bubba's car used to sit on blocks, and they need to hire an expert to tell them we need longer trips.... ####. I thought they were experts and thats why they got paid the big bucks. Has anybody seen the sign about 20 miles west of Auburn Al. on US 280, on the south side of the road, by a farmhouse, that says... I'm not making this up... Used cows for sale?? Saw another one at a produce stand in some forgotten locale that said "BIG ### MELONS". Oh God, I love this job

 

I've been hearing from several sources that there has been an eery silence at times in the executive suites in Van Buren of late and they are not sure what to make of it either. This started when David Hartline departed. I asked somebody I know about this and he told me sometimes this kind of silence does not bode well for management. He said the USA Truck board most likely has given Cliff Beckham and company till a set time to turn things around and that time may be getting close at hand. He said to pay close attention to the debt and the stock price because they are closely related. If management can't get the company out of this nose dive it's in and stop living on that credit card and soon, the investors are going to lose millions, he said in fact they might already have lost millions. He went on to say friendships and office politics aside there comes a time when the board will have to either fish or cut bait.

Has anyone noticed that the stock is slowly creeping back up???? Might be a good sign. I see USA is also expanding. Hauling hopper bottoms, tankers, FedEx trailers etc.

 

I know this sounds wrong, but according to what I have been told one has very little to do with the other. The stock price is more about buying and selling stock. I was told the only sure way to determine good coming from the company is to start seeing black ink coming from those quarterlies. I await the next quarterly report, hopefully it will show a slowing of the red ink, and start the trending out of debt. As long as the company lives on that credit card it's slowly dying, that's just the way it is. This is why I have zero confidence in the current management!
