Well, I don't know anymore than anyone else what Wally World has planned for their fleet, but to say it's cheaper to run their own trucks is just is ignorance. There is NO WAY it's cheaper to run their own trucks. Not even remotely close.
Because I worked for 25 years (retired) as a corporate cost accountant, that's how I know. There are many reasons Wally World might have chosen to haul their own freight (more control likely being the main one), but cost is not one of them. Do the math! - Cost of equipment - Tags, permits, etc... - Maintnance and repair - Shop equipment - Fuel - Labor (ALL the labor: drivers, supervisors, maintenance, etc...) - Benefits for the labor - Payroll taxes for the labor And, we haven't even discussed breakdown, tow bills, roadside flats, etc... Granted, some of these things are tax deductible, but trust me, the payroll and benefits alone are enough to warrant using outside carriers. And, finally, Wally World stock hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire for quite some time. In fact, I recently dumped most of mine that I've had for 30 years. Listen, I hope you guys keep your gig for as long as you want. It doesn't affect me one way or another. But, the fact remains that Wally World is using a TON of outside carriers to pull THEIR trailers recently and, frankly, I'd be more than a bit concerned if I were a Wally World driver. And, of course, Wally World would never blow smoke up your rears about why they're doing it. I mean, corporations never lie about anything to their minions.
How come every time Wal-Mart brings dedicated into the GM DCs to help with extra freight volume everyone on the outside thinks the Private Fleet is going away?
