I got a ticket after the load shifted that was reimbursed by CAT. They also sent a letter saying they had excellent results with contesting fines like this but it wasn't cost effective for them in my case.
1) Any idea what my chances would be if I opted to fight this in court?
2) Will this effect my personal auto insurance rates?
3) Will this ticket effect my chances of moving to a better company after my year is up at the training company I'm with now?
And yes, I know life isn't fair.

If the ticket was just for overweight, it doesn’t go on record.
Flat Earth Trucker, bentstrider83 and tscottme Thank this. -

If your ticket was for overweight on axle:
1) Depends on the jurisdiction. In many jurisdiction they're willing to deal. In Washington they're not.
2) No.
3) It might. Most companies don't care. Some (Wilson Logistics) will ask that you wait until 3 years after the ticket and re-apply.bentstrider83 Thanks this. -

Where did you get the ticket? It's a minor ticket, but still a PITA because you have to disclose it on applications and it counts as a moving violation.

This ticket is one of the things making me question staying in this field. I love part of the job, but there's a lot I don't like and if this keeps me from moving up to a better company then I'm going to have a hard time keeping doing what I'm doing now. -
Don't let the b*stards grind you down! Like I said earlier, it's a minor ticket. Probably < 5% of your, "moving up" options will have a problem with it. That leaves a whole 95+% of opportunities for you to grab by the tail. There's still lots of miles to turn and lots of dollars to be made.
I'd get a lawyer and contest it anyway. An experienced trucking lawyer will be able to tell you what magic he can perform on getting it reduced/dismissed.Flat Earth Trucker, 650cat425 and Badmon Thank this. -
Any company that would hold one over axle ticket against you, is not worth considering going to work for in the first place. And I never had an overweight ticket be a moving violation, or show up on my mvr. Those tickets are for producing revenue and have nothing to do with safety.
