I use binder locks so things can’t shake lose like that though. Never had a binder come open unless it was lose to begin with though.

I just ordered four and have them on the way to to the truck. Appreciate the suggestion.

How many trucks do you own? Just asking becuase if your that upset over just a tire you should count your blessings. Most company owners are really upside down becuase of serious downtime repairs from operator abuse such as trans and etc. just lecture the driver about his chaining methods and slap a new tire on and be done with it. No reason to open up a forensic murder investigation on how the tire was murdered.

No matter how many trucks you have , if its your equipment - even $20 counted . But i agree its not the reason to argue for 2 days with the driver unless he got multiple issues all the time .

I used to just wrap the excess chain around the binder, hook the last link with a bungee, hook to rubrail.

Yeah, I haven't said anything to the driver yet. I just got his report on what he said happened and it seemed off to me. This thread solidifies his claims and makes me less suspicious of the guy. There are other issues at hand, but this doesn't have to be listed among them.

On our setup we have shortened chains so there is no excess, really, to wrap. But we do wrap a strap around the loose chain and lever binder 2-3 times. One driver suggested lever locks, I've ordered some and have them on the way to the truck.

Looking for a second opinion on this.
Driver says the truck hit a rough patch and the damage occurred over a 30 mile stretch.
My gut tells me this happened over the 400 mile trip and the driver didn't check his chains.
I'm not exactly unbiased because I'm a bit upset over the damage to my equipment, so I'm looking for opinions from people not as close to the situation.
