I can't remember the last time i took the Penn tpk. I refuse to run the pa pike with their outrageous tolls. Most of it gets subsidized anywaysGYPSY65 Thanks this.

$15.50 last year.
KS.
I feel cheated. -
Around $150 last year in California bridge tolls. Sometimes you just can't avoid it.

My record high month was $1,800.00. I ran out onto the island a lot that month.
Normally i fluctuate between $200-$400. Going north i like running the Beacon over the Tap, but will run the Tap. I will only run the GW if i absolutely have to.
I know it sounds backwards, but i only run the njtp in the daytime. I realize you get a cheaper rate at night, but you can fly up route 1 at night time.Ruthless Thanks this. -
That one, I need to figure out. I wasn't expecting to pay so much for tollway every month. It's a couple hundred every month. When I was calculating expenses before starting out, I didn't count that one in. But it is what it is.
I stopped counting. I will have to check online to figure out how much in total was paid in 2020. There were a few months that were SLOW. So, I can expect the amount to be higher in 2021. -
The list might be outdated a bit, but still it helps out to see the picture.
"The 11 States with the Most Toll Road Mileage
- Florida: 657 miles
- Oklahoma: 596.7 miles
- New York: 574.6 miles
- Pennsylvania: 508.2 miles
- Ohio: 392.2 miles
- New Jersey: 356 miles
- Illinois: 282.1 miles
- Kentucky: 248.5 miles
- Kansas: 236.1 miles
- Indiana: 156.8 miles
- Texas: 145.6 miles
Thankfully, not every state charges insane highway tolls. As a matter of fact, almost half of U.S. states don’t include any toll roads in their infrastructure.

TallJoe Thanks this. -
This is a significant cost for someone running from Midwest to North East, or even out of Northern Illinois anywhere East. I'd say it is next to impossible to avoid tollways for the whole year. As cost per mile, in my book, it averages somewhere between 8c-10c per mile and whenever I have time and a light weight load I do try to avoid tolls. Still... I just checked my figure on the I-pass portal for 2020 and it was $9263.47.
2019: $8,640
2018: $10,784
2017: $4,511 (not so much running to East Coast)Last edited: Jan 6, 2021

Old list, Rhode Island definitely has tolls now, even on the side routes

Yes, probably it is an old list. Still, it helps out to see the picture.
I'm from the Midwest, so I'm feeling it. I'm running in the Midwest.
