    1) I make VERY good money as a company driver.
    2) The stability of working for a very solvent outfit that I KNOW does things top notch.
    3) When I get out of it... if there is an issue.. I write it up and its taken care of. I don't spend my time off working on it, lubing it, washing it, paperwork, taxes, etc.

3 very good reasons there. Thank you Jammer. Hopefully you let them know that as well. You must have also had experience at other places that don't live up to that. Maybe some real advice for someone on the edge of staying or leaving, or perhaps find what you have?

I think it's all up to the individual.
I work very hard when I'm at work and I value my off time with my wife. I'm out 10, home 4 and it works out great.
I never need a vacation bc I get one every other week.

You're correct when you say I've experienced other places "not so great".
I've always had good jobs.. but I've had to work my way up to this.
If it weren't for this particular one, I would probably think seriously about buying a $20-$30k truck to start an operation with and work hard to pay it off QUICKLY.
Then save, save, save with that truck to buy a better truck and repeat the process again.

If you're thinking of doing it on your own .. DO IT INTELLIGENTLY.
    Start small. Lose small.

    Aamcotrans and FourCircles80 Thank this.

Very good advice there. I agree 100% with the 20-30k. Stay out of buried debt. Rinse repeat and upgrade as you go. My family had a lot of o/o's growing up that wanted the brand new shiny fancy toys, but they either had to work 3 log books (back then) or had to turn it in.

I really appreciate your input and I hope people also do to.

There are other investment opportunities with a higher return and lower risk, at least for me.

Used def/dpf trucks scare the heck out of my wallet and I don't know enough nor have space to work on "old iron".

    Health insurance.

I'll give you one reason why I won't do it:

Because I want this freightshaker to be someone else's problem.
