I think some who think to strike at the broker and shipper don't get that the owner operators only make up 9 to 10% in the industry. IF even all of them go on "strike", this will slow things down a little bit, but shippers won't suffer.

It’s always the brokers fault. Except when truckers can name their price because the brokers are desperate.

Yep that is basically where I stopped. I said well deserved you right for taking my freight since I have been a dry van man the whole time. To many people jumped ship and caused this issue and then want to complain. Hopefully they all go under sooner then later.

Yeah like it happens everyday. Good rates only happen once in blue Moon

Yes that percentage will fluctuate up and down. Ie last year with good rates everyone and their uncle were buying up trucks. New, used, some found in Iowa cornfields-didnt matter back then.
Megas struggle to attract new drivers and constantly losing what they have. Being paid 50-60k gross isn't much for someone who spends 300+days on the road. I worked for local company who's trying to be mega carrier. I left about 6 years ago and don't regret it. Was treated like a slave and no respect. Had to be out minimum of 3 weeks to get 3 days off. Any decent company will let you be at home at least a week after being on the road for 3.

It’s almost like when it does happen that more people go out and buy trucks and saturate the spot market which makes the rates go lower when supply outpaces demand. But I’m just a dumb trucker so what do I know.

You're right. However you should realize that megas buy up hundreds of trucks to cover any load they can. Megas are also reason why rates are the way they are. Go past any mega yard Werner, Schneider, heartland express etc. How many trucks will you see there? 200,300 , more? They've saturated market the most

Megas don’t buy trucks to cover loads on the spot market.
