I have a Great Dane reefer. It's the third time they hit the wall inside. You can't install the cameras inside. And they don't let you inside. So, you never know if it was a shipper or receiver who caused the damage.

I'm tired of it. The last damage was $6,000. I didn't file a claim with Great West last year. Again, they hit it last year in the same spot. It didn't make it much worse. So I let that go too.

I want my insurance costs to go down, not up. Also, I don't want to blame the brokers. They might not give me any more loads. And with things they are right now, I either sit home or take what they can help me with.

I just don't understand how people can be so senseless when loading and unloading.

I thought cameras inside the reefer trailer won't work.
    What a day today!

A sign inside the doors, on the wall, or hanging from a flexible mount from the roof

“Cameras are recording and damages will be pursued “

    Might help.

I need to research this. I need to find a way to install one.
    That's a good sign.

It’s that old ‘ADT’ sign in your front yard trick.

    Calling their bluff.

You could get a battery operated fake camera with a blinky light and tape it up on the roof to up the game.

The camera system I have would work. So no reason why you could not get one to work. Do you happen to have lights in your trailer? If not you may need to get some extra infrared lights ran for infrared to work better on the cameras.

If there won't be a way to install the real camera, then I will just make it fake.

But maybe there is a way how to get the real one that actually works. I need lights as well.

You're presuming the forklift operator can read and understand English, and then care.

Here's an idea: don't go back there to give them a 3rd crack at it. Do your pals a solid and post a 1 star review on Google Maps when you get a minute too, so we know not to go there either.

The Tyson plant in Wilkesboro tore up the doors on both of my trailers within a day or two such that I didn't find out until both were unloaded. They either struck the dock or adjacent trailers while backing to load with the doors open.

Tyson is now a hard no, at any price, anywhere, and I tell them why before ending the call.

PS: you can tell who did the deed by which way the liner is torn into.

PPS: next time you buy a Great Dane reefer, spec it with Puncture Guard liner or better. It's a coated metal that won't tear as easily as kemlite. In the mean time, you might want to consider having some belting material or the like mounted on the walls above your scuff strips, 24" is about all you need usually. Unless your loading crates full of knives or saw blades with product sticking out the sides. Then that probably won't help.
