First not to bash anyone but trainers they are not. If you have your CDL, you don't need a trainer, you need a mentor, the hard part is done and now you have to gain experience.
Second the OP needs to get with it, he is control, so if he wants to stop, stop, if he needs help backing up, tell the guy to get out and help or do it himself.FerrissWheel, tinytim and Jazz1 Thank this. -
Swift DOES have Mentors, if I'm correct. If his first one sucked THAT bad, to where he couldn't "suck it up, buttercup" .... he can request a new one.
I'd suggest that he go back to Swift, finish out the terms, UNDER a new Mentor~! imho..WyoBigFish and Lepton1 Thank this. -
If you are not confident to drive quit. I see no reason you need someone beside you holding your hand to go down the highway. This is not rocket science and reading these posts are evidence the industry is not recruiting MENSA alumni
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Wargames, G13Tomcat and FullMetalJacket Thank this.

Swift, like most megas, tries to foist their cost on drivers by leasing the truck to them. The people that fall for this need those team miles from mentoring to make the truck payment. I'd say go back to Swift, ask for a company driver as a trainer. Those guys, while some are in it only for the money, most seem to actually try and help a new driver out.
Also, pack light, as in a single duffle, and sleeping bag. That way you can, at any time, literately walk away from the trainer (call Swift and set up a replacement first.)WyoBigFish, Ryan423, Rocknroller4 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Look into CFI. You don't team with your finisher, its you doing the heavy lifting while he is on duty sitting beside you.
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
You had to drive at night? Well, I'm just appalled.
I would contact an attorney if I were you.
Don't let these mega's do this to you. You had a bright future as a big truck driver, and they've taken it all away. $65K x 40 years, don't settle for less than $2.5 million.
