I am a new CDL license holder having gone through Prime's CDL program. I recently left the next training phase with Prime,TNT, due to not being able to handle being airborne 500-1000 times a night while trying to sleep. Sleep was nonexistant for me. My fifth night in I had to shut down due to nearly falling asleep. I own it, probably should have tried to continue to tough it out. Question, I am paying Prime off and squaring up my contract. Once that is done, and other companies can verify it, are there any training options for new CDL holders to get similar training or entry level employment where you aren't required to try to sleep in a moving truck for several months? Or am I pretty much finished? I have no idea how folks team in this industry. God bless them.

You're ok. You have a cdl now, right?
    Where is your location?

Two companies have short training periods, but the pay isn't too good.
Training period is about 11 days. TransAm and Schneider.

that's one of the problems I had while in training.
just had to tough it out.
my trainer would let me stop for a few hours if needed if we had time.

Check out Tyson Foods. They have a training program. A couple of weeks is team driving but if you talk with your trainer most of them will go through the whole time not teaming. If they refuse our driver support will find a new trainer for you

Prime blows goats - I don't care what anyone says. I wish you luck.

I hate this behemoth Sludge that exists in the industry, sucking in valuable driver capacity, and churning it like a meat grinder for it's own, unfortunately local , capitalist purposes.

I've been inside their 'compound'. Be in awe of their indoor fountains , basketball courts, and neon signs. Mmmmmm.

F them, and the filth they purvey.

Call CFI. Their training program is running a solo truck with trainer in the jump seat. It’s fairly short last I heard 7,500 miles - about 3-4 weeks. You don’t have to sleep in a moving truck - the trainer is there to help you, not there to drive a team truck. I went through the program 7 years ago when the company was under a different name. I don’t think things have changed on the training though. The pay is also pretty decent for the student, though not great. Just get through it and get your own truck and move forward. I can’t believe people actually put up with training drivers in a TEAM TRUCK!! It’s absolutely absurd and I don’t care if anyone here thinks that “just the way it’s done”. Well its done that way because PEOPLE PUT UP WITH IT. If drivers STOPPED coming through their doors they WOULD CHANGE. You feel me? Time to figure it out people. The way to make change is to BE that change and stop saying it’s “just the way it is”. Driver… I wish you luck. Oh… and BTW, you shouldn’t have continued to tough it out. That’s total rubbish. You did the right thing getting out of the program. If you’re not sleeping you’re a danger to yourself and everyone on the road. Period. You made a smart and conscientious choice so good on you! Too many would have just pushed through and some of those “tough guys/gals” would be dead today along with whoever they took with them. Sleep is NOT negotiable! We all get tired and sometimes do have to push through but not every single dang day. In my book, you’re a hero. I hope you have an amazing career. Wish more drivers took this as seriously as you do.

I started at Butler in KC https://www.butlertransport.com/ and have no complaints.

No team driving, the trainer just sits in the passenger seat and in my case was texting his girlfriend most of the time.

Your body gets used to sleeping in a moving truck after a few days.

How do you think all the teams manage it?
