Salary and Bonuses
Some trucking companies may guarantee you a higher per-mile rate than DTI. Unfortunately, they won’t guarantee how many miles you will actually get to drive. Our first year drivers average $55,000. After that our drivers average about $80,000 per year, which includes bonuses for achieving service, safety and department goals.
Driving School Tuition Reimbursement
Dot Transportation reimburses new hires for driver training tuition if the schooling has been completed within the last 3 years at a DTI-approved institution. DTI will reimburse tuition after 90 days of employment, over a 3-year time period. Maximum out-of-pocket reimbursement is $7,000.

KLLM and FFE are together. FFE has local and regional. Regional you are home Friday and back to the yard Sunday night to leave Monday morning
Local people start at 18.75 an hour last I heard. They work a lot of hours, a lot of over time.
Personally id rather say out at least a week before going home because drivers seem to all drive a lot reguardless for the most part. I'm finished with daily commutes in my pov. Its easier to stay out in my opinion. -
What are you doing between Sunday night and Monday morning? What is a pov?

Millis Transfer has a Texas regional I think you can get on after training. Good training company. Located in Burleson

To the OP if you dont want otr, give a look to freight companies. You be moving freight with the forklift i.e breaking trailers and more, after 6 months you can apply for school and you will get trained. If you choose to go this route you will be asked to sign a contract either for 1 year or 2. These are the following companies that offer such programs.
Old Dominion
Estes
Saia
R&L
Xpo.
All those companies above are pretty top notch LTLs.
Good luck. -
Find a community college that has a CDL program. That is what I did so I wouldn't be indebted to a company.
Most of them have a tuition assistance program as well. -
So you'll need either $7000+ saved up, or 'tuition assistance' which sounds like a $7,000+ student loan. Either way, no can do.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

$7000
who pays that amout to get a cdl. In texas the most a community college will charge is close to $4000.

That was going to be my next step, find out which colleges have a program in cities/states I may want to live in and confirm the actual cost. I can't understand why anyone would pay double that for a private school in the same area unless they graduate a lot faster. I'd almost be willing to bet the community colleges take longer, even before looking into them.

Check out lone star college out of Houston, texas. If im not mistaken the cost of cdl is under $4000.
