No they don't. By law they have to tell you if you ask, but most still won't and you will be put on their do not load list.

Brokers do loose money on loads from times to time. I’ve personally witnessed it. If they have a load that is time sensitive and they can’t get a truck for the rate they quoted, they will keep raising the rate until they find a truck to keep from losing a good customer. Even if the broker tells you what he has in a load, what makes you think he will pay you over market rate?Crude Truckin', GreenPete359, Renegade92 and 2 others Thank this.

Sometimes but rarely. I think you just have to have the mentality that it’s your job to make the broker lose money. It’s his job to make you lose money. Whoever wins comes out on top. No doubt I’ve ran 1000’s of loads where the broker lost money. No doubt I’ve run 1000’s of loads where they made great money. It all comes down to pushing for ever last penny you can. Transparency doesn’t and shouldn’t exist IMO. I’m a favor for free market as set markets cap or limit earning potential for everyone.Crude Truckin', Renegade92, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.

Somehow this turned into should brokers be transparent nor not. Original question was does transparency exist? Short answer is no. Perhaps we should stay on topic.

If you knew much about contract rates then you would know contract rates were far below the money people were seeing on the spot market during the top of the wave you were riding. It’s not like spot rates shot up and everyone went and renegotiated their long term contracts. It doesn’t work like that because people understand what goes up must come down. So contract rates stayed mostly level throughout Covid because there’s no since in negotiating up and then having to negotiate down when the market turns. So yes, people moved loads at a loss whether you choose to believe it or not.
Also, you didn’t answer my question. When the spot market was high would you lower your rate if the rate shown to you was less than you quoted the broker? Why won’t anyone answer that?
It’s funny how the truckers only want to see all the cards when the brokers hold the deck.AsphaltFarmer, haycarter, Marmon110P and 4 others Thank this. -
I get a real kick outa some of these guys here. You spend so much time worrying about how much someone else is making off of a transaction that you injected yourself into, its no wonder you dont get anywhere. Ask yourself, why am I broke and have all this chrome but bald tires? Its mostly because you dont know how to get your priorities strait. If you wernt such a crappy negotiator, and you decided one day to educate yourself on how to actually run a smart and profitable business, you wouldnt be here whining about how the broker who YOU called supposedly screwed you. Its like the guys who love to post screenshots of the 1000 mile load "offered" for $1800. Ya know how many times I have called on those loads and got well in excess of $3000?? LOTS! Its guys with the sour attitude who usually take the cheap loads and then complain about how its someone elses fault that they screwed themselves, meanwhile the rest of us savy business owners know how to play the game and dont have a care in the world what the broker makes. If I was a broker, Id take everything you allowed me to take also!!

Do you expect to see how much Kroger pays for their milk?
Do you expect to see how much Autozone pays for their brake pads?
Do you expect to see what Amazon pay for those curtain rods?
Do you expect .......
Why do you expect it with one company you buy services from and not another?AsphaltFarmer, Siinman, Renegade92 and 2 others Thank this. -
Hes exactly as I described above...Siinman, Renegade92 and GreenPete359 Thank this.

You are exactly right. If a broker get paid 5000 dollars to move a load and finds someone to move it for 1000 dollars good for him. The problem isn't the brokers.Renegade92, Siinman, shanman and 2 others Thank this.

Yup! The couple I work for have regular regional work for a couple of their customers for 10 trucks. And on rare occasions, they do haul at a loss for an odd reason or another just to keep them happy. We haul probably less than 1% brokered freight. But they fight for every cent they make, pay us pretty well, run good equipment. They're good business people.Renegade92, m16ty, GreenPete359 and 1 other person Thank this.
