That,s what truckin is. T&E. It will haunt you your entire trucking career. Trucking eats at your brain and at your body. The governments regulations governing trucking will become the nemisis if you ever attain a decent driving skill. You,ll never think of mankind as kind after all the time you witness the lack of driving skill by the public and your fellow truck drivers. You,ll be angry, hateful and wish to God that you would have gone another direction in life. But it's always there, somebody always needs somebody to drive a truck. There is reward. Even if you did spent a lifetime driving for someone, they,ll tell you "thanks for stopping by".

I enjoyed most of my 35 yrs driving.

never been through a driving school, self taught.

only spent a couple of weeks team driving/training. nope not for me!!

maybe I missed out on all the worst parts.

if it's that bad, you picked the wrong kind of driving ,OTR v local, solo v team ,ect,or driving itself was not for you.

I feel blessed to have had 23+ years in the trucking industry. I have seen things and been places I likely never would have if I'd stayed doing warehouse work. Trucking has been good to me. I hear a lot of negativity here from a lot of the newer drivers. Trucking is not for everyone.

    Such bitterness.

Sing in the wonderful morning, celebrate at night over dinner and beer, sleep or drive straight through and deliver the next day. Get going yer late. Meet with friends but not the kind you take home to mama. Maybe even a little kicking if need be.

If you come out of trucking bitter and worn out you have missed many many many chances to find joy around the USA and Canada. Usually the people and the food as well as certain situations. Yes it's bad some days when it's really bad but you shake it off and get going. They be waiting on you.

Yes there are things that you could get hardened to and get all sour. But you know what? Its your life and wherever you go there you are. Make the best of it in happiness and joy where possible. Even if things are not going perfectly. Otherwise you eat yourself up long before your natural expiration date.

It would be very easy for me to be bitter. But thats not being alive. You stand tall and laugh at whatever ails you. Get going yer late already.

Life's to short to work a field you don't enjoy.
    Find a vocation you enjoy.

If you're always worried about where you have to be and when, trucking will always suck. I haul machinery. Seldom do I have an etched in stone appointment. If the weather is crap, if I just want a nap, gotta take a dump, wanna eat while not moving... the truck stops. Sometimes I'll stop and just read for an hour because it seems every driver's name must be Richard.
I drive the truck, the truck doesn't drive me. (now, if this was Soviet Russia it might be a different story)

Too many people get into it simply thinking it's easy money which, it is compared to other things. If like being alone with your thoughts and don't mind cursing at the idiots you see it's fun.
