In the newest update to the box planner software the box planner will see a map of the route to the drivers next location with all the possible trailer locations. Each location will show its "stick rate" is the sucsess rate of drivers BT into and actually getting an mt. They can then make a more informed decision.
In order for the BP to accurately assign specific trailers drivers need to keep their etas up to date. The reason we see "our trailer" rolling out the gate as we roll in is that driver's events weren't up to date so much the BP had no idea the driver would get there before you.
There are only 12 (twelve) box planners for the country on duty at any given time. We'vs gone from a 55% stick rate in June 2014 to a 76% stick rate in June 2015. The head of box planning has a goal of 95% stick rate by the end of the year.
Once drivers have confidence in the box planners we will stop Ramboing trailer searches, thus making the information the box planners work from better, improving the stick rate.
The biggest thing Schneider can do to improve trailer searches is to stop hiring moronic drivers and then not training them properly. Corporate, CS, APMs all have their issues and need to get their own houses tidied up but we as drivers have to own our own ####.

One thing might help...
If BP assigns a trailer to a truck to be picked up at a future time, make that trailer unassignable to any other truck.
That would help a lot with drivers grabbing trailers on their own out of locations where an mt is expected to be for a driver that's dropping a loaded trailer.
Or say if you do take an mt on your own accord and a driver has to go on a trailer hunt because you did so, your paying for the hunt, wether IC or company driver.
And a rule for box planners... If a driver is bringing a load into a customer, they can't send in a driver for an mt unless its certain to be extra. That of course would be wishful thinking.Home_on_wheels Thanks this. -
Making it un-assignable won't work because a customer wouldn't know it's not your trailer. You could still pull it to your next pick up.
Best way is pay us to go get them and that will solve 99 percent of the issues.PoleCrusher and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Exactly. ...still cost us to move the truck regardless...Home_on_wheels and PoleCrusher Thank this.

Case in point - three tucking schmucks have hooked to my trailers and gone home. The one hooked to"my empty" has his QC on still - his next load doesn't pick up until Monday. Thanks #######.

A lot of the time when they send you to get an MT the trailer is there. Problem is they don't account for the fact that multiple Schneider drivers might be in and out and by the time you get there the trailer is already grabbed by another driver.

part of my problem with the whole process is that, frankly, I don't trust them. Waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too many times driving 49 miles to pick up an empty knowing that I'm passing by other opportunities. And that, my friends is how we get folks not doing as they're told.
Putting some integrity into the system and the process would be a real good place to start.PoleCrusher Thanks this. -
Integrity? In this industry?
Are you being serious?
Maybe you should try stand-up comedyfreightwipper Thanks this. -
I dont agree here at Millis I have been told days in advance with a pre plan that I am to pick up trailer xxxx at your drop...I once put in the wrong trailer number fat finger it..and in less than a minute they sent me a message I was hooked to wrong trailer....Schneider has way more money than Millis

Drivers would also need to call in oos trailers. Stop marking them good if it isnt. I drove from Chicago to indy to pick up a specify mt and it was damage
