However we need a serious change at the FMCSA level to provide more stringent entry requirements for both brokers and carrier. The former has to be based in the US. The latter needs more capital requirements, both need to go through 18 months of means testing and there has to be more disclosure at the broker level to show who actually initiated the load with the customer.
We still need a serious reduction in capacity, at least 15% more gone, and an exit of 20% of the marginal operators.Deere hunter, ElmerFudpucker, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
The covid era loan repayments are biting hard right now and all the free covid money has worked its way out of the system.

Dealers don’t want to deal.
I was going to trade in 2 16 models a pete and a freightliner, one 685k other 811k, see if they’d sale on consignment a 94 pete and a 10kw and I’d buy outright a new KW.
They said the 16 models were “to old”
Peterbilt dealer said same thing.
Freightliner would’ve made deal, but i didn’t want another cascadia, besides, all they had was condos and i need midroof to get into places.
Just sold the 2 16s out right, kept other two and everyone’s happy, but it lets you know, dealers are the big cause of their own lack of sales.larry2903, Siinman, Deere hunter and 3 others Thank this. -
I’ve been hearing 3 more quarters for a long time now. Just hang in there!! Capacity? It’s slowly dropping. Meanwhile there’s still plenty of companies with Trucks parked. My boss has 60 Trucks paid for. 120 trailers and buying more at auction, every chance he gets. 1-2 yr old dry vans for $18-$20k. Meanwhile 20 Trucks are parked. 10 of them are brand new 4-5 yr old gliders. Just waiting for a driver, or to replace a 900kTruck. That’s capacity that’s not being utilized. How many others are there? New terminology “ Shadow Capacity “ Lol. Plenty competition like him. Debt free, disciplined, he won’t go down, unless he decides to.
