I haven't been there in a few years but there used to be a guy just south of Atlanta, what is that like exit 205 maybe (off I-75) where all the truck stops are there (the first/last ones south of Atlanta)?

Clay's is just across the street from the Petro in San Antonio, but you can park in the parking lot behind the motel to shorten your walk.
And 4Gs is in the parking lot (a very rough parking lot, mind you) of the Chevron at the NE corner of I-10 and Thompson Rd in Baytown (exit 789). It's across the street from the Love's, across the freeway from the TA, and caddy-corner from the PFJ. -
TA on I-75 in Cartersville Georgia also the Petro on the west side of Atlanta on I-285. I've used both , it's been a few years but they are still there. I had good luck with them.

Red's I believe it is, he works out of mobile shop and covers the Flying J and Love's in Cheyenne. I've not used him, but have heard good things.

Several CB shop owners have closed up shop. CB use is considered obsolete by most of these younger drivers. And even some companies consider CB use to be dangerous. Saying that its a distraction.
I talked to a cb shop owner last week. I was just asking about one of those star gun antennas. But we got off into other conversations. And he said most of these CB shop guys are older and have retired. And others are only doing online sales. He said there ain't many cb shops building wise left.
But if I could get a cb online for $400 plus free shipping. Versus $519.99 plus tax at the cb shop. Then it definitely makes sense to order online. However once its installed I would be the only driver asking for a bear report.
Bring back manual trucks, starched down jeans and crisp pressed shirts, road atlases, cb shops that sell big watt pill boxes, and wheel polish shops that had them looking like mirrors!!! Trucking has really change since GPS's and automatics became the norm. One use to really have skill to do it. Now if you do hear someone on the CB. Its a bunch of B/S going on.

Generally it is the older drivers that I have talked to in the last 5-10 years on the CB. If I have recently cleaned my rig they tend to be more inclined to strike up a conversation. I also run a regular route so I consistently see familiar rigs going the other way that I speak with. One good thing about not everyone running a CB is I don’t hear all the BS that we heard back in the day.Oxbow Thanks this.
