If that's the case, he's got no business having the gun in the first place. If you are unwilling to use it as anything more than a scare tactic against a threat, you're more likely to end up dead (possibly with your own weapon). If you're justified in displaying the weapon, you're justified in firing the weapon. Shoot to end the threat against you, without CAUSING a threat to anyone else. Want to fire into the air? That's what blanks and birdshot is for...harmless. If you've got slugs, buck, or regular pistol or rifle rounds that can cause damage or serious injury when it lands, the round goes toward a defined target or it doesn't leave the chamber.

Depends on the state. Here in Florida we can shoot to kill to defend not just ourselves, but our property. So say i walk up on someone breaking into my truck, i can shoot him without warning. But if he sees me and runs away and i shoot him in the back....thats opening up a can of worms i wouldn't want. It puts your freedom in the hands of a prosecutor. I don't trust them not to pursue charges in a liberal district.NavigatorWife and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Good ole' Flori-Duh. My wife was raised in Manatee County, and graduated from their HS. Maybe "that's" what her issues are? She got her permits and iron there.... and she doesn't want to unlearn "y'all's" way~!!! LoL~NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Speaking of this. There's alot of talk about the legalities of transporting handguns in a truck. What about a shotgun?
Boattlebot and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
Guy deserves to be cited, and have the gun taken away. As my father always said, if you are willing to pull out a gun you #### well better be willing to use deadly force, otherwise leave it where it is. He also said what goes up, must come down, and you shoot in the air and the bullet will eventually slow enough for gravity to take over, and it will come down. While rarely does someone get hit that way, it does happen.
How often do folks that carry go to a range and be come proficient using it? If you carry one, at least be able to hit your target, otherwise it is nothing more than a paper weight. -
Talk about a welfare state....Sheesh you have 'Live FREE' on your license plate.Last edited: Mar 15, 2017
