You asked that same question back in June, except you didn't mention a criminal record then.
Yes, get your CDL and start knocking on some doors for local work. Did you check with Corrigan?
Keep a clean driving record and an up to date DOT medical card and you can run all over the country the day you turn 21.

I understand that. When someone says that he has been "incident free" for 4 months, you show me what company is going to hire someone that has a drug charge or drug related misdemeanor and also let alone another one just before that on top of being really young.

By all means I am not putting down. Anyone that has felonies I believe they deserve a second chance depending on the circumstances (my own opinion), but I do know that it would be an uphill battle starting off with 2 offenses (if they were drugs) within a short period of time as described by the OP.

By all means everyone has a future. I had suspension on my license for 4 years while I fought 2 tickets in the court system that seemingly got physically destroyed as the outcome and I got it back. So yes, I know that hard work pays off. I wish him the best in the future.

The army won't take you with those misdemeanors? Not saying they aren't bad but it seems like these days you could at least go in the infantry. If you stay out of trouble from here on out you shouldn't have a problem getting into trucking once you're old enough.

Sadly not. originally I was gonna enlist into the Navy for combat medical but medical test are insanely hard. The Marine corps were the only branch that said join us.

The Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy...lol. Those Marines love discussing that with sailors, especially when they're drunk in Olongapo City or Singapore. Wow, some really fun days!

OK, this sounds like "stupid kid stuff" to me. Give it some time, and things should be easier. In other words, if you keep your nose clean for the next 5 years or so, not to many outfits are going to hold this against you. UNLESS you are in the process of establishing a "pattern" of this crap.

Go find another job for the next few years, show up on time, sober and ready to work. Keep your personal life clean and you should be good to go. Let's face it, very few of us are "goody two shoes." Some folks have done a whole lot worse than what you are talking about, and they are driving even as we read these threads.

I understand what you are saying KStarkie, but you need to see it where the companies are coming from as well. You technically have 4 charges from what you had told us. Very good that they are not drug charges because it means less time to where things can be overlooked.

It never hurts to call around and see what places would hire. I mean you don't have to give your name if your just talking to a recruiter to see if they would hire you with your record.

For the local work though with your CDL, its going to be a craps shoot. Yes in order to go interstate you have to be 21, but most states allow people 18 to get their CDL to drive intrastate (in your state ONLY). The only issue is again finding a company that would hire you if your under 21 and with your record being as fresh as it is.

Wish you the best of luck and hope you get into a job. I am really surprised that the Army did not want to take you... I seen them give guys with worse things than you had all kinds of waivers to get in. ####.

Something isn't right here. The Army takes people that the Marines never would. That's common knowledge. That's not a hit on the Army they just usually need more people. The Marines are downsizing as is the Army so I'm wondering if you just heard a Marine recruiter say that or if you actually got the okay. In any event nothing matters till you get through MEPS. Also, if you want to be a medic join the Army as the Marines and Navy use corpsman.

If you really want to be in the Military then you need to keep trying, waivers are available. But it sounds to me you need to do some more research, the military isn't what the recruiting posters make it out to be.

Not anymore. The Army has gotten so tight on recruitment that you could probably put a piece of coal in and pop a diamond out of it. because of the draw down, kicking out of almost 75k troops recently (force retirements, barring reenlistments, normal ETS, and early retirements). They are still looking to drop even more numbers and are about to start a campaign like the Air Force use to do to where you will have to have ONLY a HS Diploma (no GED) and all kinds of bs just to cut back on recruiting numbers. They have stopped all waivers right now until they get to the approved numbers by DOA.
