Truckers Rideshare Program

If you put a ring on it's finger, or is a pet, or Team Driver, take it with you. Anything else is bad for your job.

 

A couple decades ago, when I was in the US Army, I would travel all over this country via truck drivers. I'd offer to buy a couple meals and we'd be off having a good ride getting me closer to my destination. I remember a couple drivers even getting on the CB and setting up my next leg for me. Of course, I was a clean cut military officer with a duffel bag for luggage. That probably helped with getting lifts.

But that was the then. Things have changed a lot in the last decade. On both sides of that situation. On one side I think it could be a way a driver could make extra money, carrying a passenger. An internet based business where potential passengers have their identity checked and are charged a fee could work but there would be liabilities. Just think if one crazy slipped through.

On the trucker's side, this is not just his job but his home too. I don't think any trucker wants to be taking someone on board that he/she doesn't know.

It doesn't apply just to truck drivers. Years ago, if I saw someone broke down on the side of the road, I stopped. I didn't think about it, I just pulled over and helped them out. One bad experience with a very hot young lady in distress, and well... I don't stop any more. I'll call AAA for them but I'm not letting them in my car.
