LTL linehaul and reefer, for sure. Also lots of grocery store chains and suppliers move at night.

All the posts above are correct; reefers and linehaul.
I did reefers most of my career and made a pretty good living and loved that night running.

Service vendors to hospitals. I deliver supplies to our hospitals, and I always run into the linen guys, as well as drivers from Medline, occasionally Cardinal Health, US Foods, Charlie's Produce, and the local dairy. Hospitals need to have much of their daily product delivered prior to the receivers actually showing up, that way it's ready to go very early in the morning.

Most gas cans run at night. I disagree on van and reefer, unless you are delivering right to the store. Most van or reefer work I did ( a lot) was more of a daytime (and wait) thing.

just about most freight. When I did reefer, I had alot of late night 12am-4am deliveries, but usually not many pickups. Most of the guys I see are LTL, gas , and food delivery

Another vote for mail. I currently work overnights at a USPS processing center. Subcontracted trucks are non stop through here. Many companies as well.
