I've stayed at this same Walmart many times bobtail over the years. Yes I saw the signs which they put up a couple years back but never had a problem, til last night.

Walmarts in cities is usually a big no-no. I use Trucker Path and read the reviews by other drivers before heading there.Another Canadian driver and mjd4277 Thank this.

When I was OTR and that store was the only place to park. I always parked in the back as if I was making a delivery the next morning. Never had any issues. Even when security was knocking on doors on trucks parked in front. They never bothered me while I was in the backAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

Five years ago I stopped at a walmart in my straight truck one night on my way home from my warehouse. Was about to go in and probably spent a couple hundred $ in there. I parked way out of the way in a corner and as I was walking about 100ft or so away from the truck a little security Mazda pickup with flashing lights drives up and tells me I can’t park in the parking lot. I told him I’m going in to shop and than I’m going home. He said thats fine but I need to move my truck out of the lot first. I got back in the truck and left and me or the immediate family has never set foot in a Walmart since.

Got a call from Walmart last night advising that one of my trucks was camped there. I called the driver and he moved. Thank you Walmart.
Now, my feelings on the situation. Walmart is not a truck stop. They have no obligation to allow anyone to remain on their property, it is private property. I am thankful that they have gone to the calling but they shouldn't have to do this. Drivers need to make better choices.
That said, we had a similar situation here at home where the signage was no where near as required in Michigan law. After a full explanation to the township it took 2 hours for the Tow Company owner to bring us a $1,200 check which he had charged.
There are rights and there are rules. Drivers need to know their rights so that they can recognize their wrongs but if you are caught in a bad situation, you need to know how to prove that the towers are wrong, IF they are, and how to combat them.
Good luck, be smart and safe. Your lack of planning is not anyone else's problem.Another Canadian driver and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Not arguing but just for the sake of education. I have read over 100 ordinances a and laws in various states and communities on this subject and ALL of them have the minimum requirement that the signs be posted at "ALL" entrances to the property, and that the signs and letters be of a certain size and include certain information.
The reason for this is to give proper legal notice to the driver or patron. IF this has not been done then legally, there should be no towing or booting. The sign in this picture seems to be in the middle of the parking lot. There may be signs at the entrances and I'm sure that they meant welll with this sign but the notice laws are there for a reason.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
It is still private property. If they don't want you there they can boot or tow you. I wouldn't let trucks park on my property either. Just because you drive a truck doesn't mean you can park anywhere you want.
