International is terrible. Werner stopped buying them and Volvos, and gets mostly Cascadias and Petes.
The problem was, the internationals would break down 3-4 times a year, and the Cascadias would break down about twice in their entire life span... so it was obvious that the Cascadias were the right truck. And the ride was much better, the Internationals would give guys back cramps and would keep the team drivers and trainers from sleeping, because it will literally flip you over in the bunk.
I never had issues sleeping in the Cascadia, but in the International I had to prop myself up by putting a bad of clothes on one side, and a huge trash bag of dirty ones on my other side, because the poor ride made it so hard to stay still in the bunk.
Then it caused a new problem, that my body stayed still and my guts turned inside me... so it felt like my feet after a long hike, like I had blisters between my guts and my bones...
So ya, I was happy to get out of that thing, I got a Cascadia, and it was a dream. I miss that truck... I tried a Pete, and it wasnt bad... but the interior was falling apart at 250k and my cascadia was like new at 550... I had my old cascadia lined up next to my new one and transferring my stuff... and the interior of the old one didnt look too much worse than a brand new one. A lot of petes lose the outer layer of the plastic or the door trim, and just get torn up pretty easy. I checked out a few, and I was like "No thank you, what a mess!"
But the petes and Kenworth drive the best, they take off the fastest and drive kind of sporty. The Cascadia is slower, but it turns better and rides pretty good.

What happened with the dog? Not good enough? Mack builds one of the toughest truck made. As for volvos..to Many air leaks, freightliner? They aren't called a freight shaker for nothing.international..was IHC international harvester company..as in In Hell Constantly.. Pete's and KW are good trucks.. Just how many here even know what a cabover is?
-
Um I have nothing good to say about them. You can talk about comfort and ride all anybody wants. They have to be because they break down so often.
Mack is nothing hut a glorified Volvo now. I have a friend that works at a mack service shop. No comparison between old and the new crap that Volvo started building. Freightliners are cheap but I'd buy one of those over a volvo yea roughrridingmothers but it happens. International? Eh they are what they are. They're like a freightliner. But hey last time I knew they owned Cummins so they're alright in my book...well last time I knew Cummins was a navistar product. Pete is Pete you're paying for a name. I paid for mine. Same with kenwroth. Paying for a name. Yes they are a step up in quality but they carry a higher price tag. My Pete is the most uncomfortable mother I've ever driven but I love her to death. And if you can learn how to drive in a long hood with the blind spots and no spot mirrors you can drive anything. Personally I think drivers should learn on them but that's me.
As for COE if you don't know what a cab over is you need a history lesson . Only thing I don't like about a cab over is the feeling od going through the windshield when you hit the brakes. And the 9spd pattern is different than what I'm used to.DeltaKilo Thanks this. -
With a COE and have an accident.. You are the first to arrive.. They were only good in those tight places in the city. And cramped room , every time I put my shoes on I had to open the door to get a little extra room.. Every time I worried more about bailing out the door. Those were the days?

Yea that ain't no ####. My daddy started on an old K100 with Armstrong steering. Running hanging meat out to NYC. He hated that truck no room or nothing. He'd fuel in Omaha and run that SOB till she was sucking air so he could fuel and get his stamps lol. His last trip was picking up a trailer from a driver that was in the hospitol. He arrived while they were patching the bullet holes in the other truck. Those were definitely the days. I've heard stories of cabovers getting wrecked and no ambulance being called they just bring a body bag. Them k100s and 362s will always have a special place in my heart...and have a special place in history.Criminey Jade Thanks this.

I know because I have been in a cabover and since I am the one who started the thread I just really wanted to see which truck has the most selections.
-
Lol OP basically you have it grouped right. Freightliner, and international are basically the same so that's a group. Vovlo and mack, Pete and KW, and your cab over section. It all fits in there somewhat lol

my votes for peterbilt no question. I drove an 06 387 for 5 years at my old company and never had a problem with it. with my new company I started in an 06 columbia and it was so noisy in it and could hardly hear the radio, and the AC was horrible I would leave it on at full blast in the sleeper and it would still be 90 back there. But now I just got a new 2014 587 and I'm loving life again its so quiet and comfortable. and I did get a chance to drive a volvo briefly about a week ago I found the dash layout to be very unorganized, I never even found the controls for the jakes.

cool deal go onto the poll and cast your vote. The poll will be closing soon

Cummins has nothing to do with Navistar - two separate companies and two completely different engines.
Criminey Jade Thanks this.
