I am at a travel plaza on north i-95 in New Jersey right now. I need to get to Connecticut tomorrow. Will it be possible if instead of taking 95 into nyc, I get off right before the bridge on hwy 9W going north to cross at the Tappan Zee Bridge? Is 9w legal for trucks to use?

D.Tibbitt and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

Hop on 80 West for about a mile and you'll see signs for NJ17 north. I've ran that way plenty of times

9W north of Ft. Lee NJ is also known as the Palisades Parkway. If I remember correctly (haven't been on it in years), the average bridge clearance is between 7' and 9'.

Edit: Im an idiot. 9W runs parallel. Still, you can't go that way.

If you can get across the GW Bridge before 6am it’s usually ok, may save you some time.

But I certainly don’t blame you for avoiding it, especially if you can’t get across before 6.

Even if the traffic doesn't get you, the craters in the road on the other side will make you cry
