I am trying to figure out H.O.S. and the split sleeper 8/2, 2/8, so I have been doing some schedules to see if this would be in compliance. Mind you, it is just basic with no pickups/deliveries; only if I were driving for the entire time. Would these be correct, or are they way out of whack?

If your on e-logs the computer will do it all
    Automatically.
You don't have to figure out anything.
Just remember you have to do the 8 first.

You can do a split either way, just as long as the time on either side of your 8 doesn't exceed 8/11/14 or push you over your 70. I worked for a company that couldn't plan their way out of a paper bag...one of their loads went from northern VA to central FL(1100 miles), and was scheduled so tight, 2 30's would make you late, so it was drive 5, take a 2, drive 5, take an 8, drive 5 take a 2, drive 5 take an 8.

While the computer will do it when on e-log it's hard to plan around it if you don't understand how it works.

The first example, from 07:00 to 07:00 has a couple problems. You show your breaks an on duty time. I think the 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm was meant to be am and you skipped an hour between 3:30 and 4:30.

So you started at 07:00, took 8 hours in the berth from noon until 20:00 which would extend your 14 until 05:00. Without any off duty time you wouldn't be able to drive after 04:00 without taking a 30 minute break.

From 05:00 until 07:00 you show 2 hours sleeper. Since you started at 20:00 your 14 would be up at 10:00 as the 8 hour sleeper stops the clock but the 2 hours doesn't.

    It's too complicated for me.
    I've never used it.
I just stick with the 14/10

Thanks for the corrections. I am really trying to figure this out in my mind, rather than just rely on eLogs

It's one those things that's really tough to get your head around but once you do it's not that complicated.

    Definitely worth effort IMO.

Looked at your sheet. Pro tip, you don't have to be on duty when you're on the crapper.
