That's really sad.
frizzbees and otterinthewater Thank this. -
Always do a tug test...
Justrucking2, Lepton1, aussiejosh and 3 others Thank this. -

And mind the bridges at the end when empty. I had my trailer flipped off the 5th wheel once.
-
Note to all those who post stuff about pulling fifth wheels . . .
Lepton1, Bud A., drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
When I first started trucking 6 months ago my assigned truck had problems with the fifth wheel locking in over and over. I fought with it for 2 weeks and the garage worked on it two different occasions said it was fixed and it still failed a hard tug test .
Anyways it made me leery and to this day I crawl under with a good bright flashlight and confirm the lock is around the jaw on my new truck I was issued.
Sad Situation there -
And LOOK at the jaws. Tug tests can fool you, and let's admit we all need some more time walking outside the truck
Lepton1, Bud A., tech10171968 and 4 others Thank this. -
If it fails the tug test, park that #### thing and say "get me into another rig".

You guys hear about the truck that rear-ended a car in the oil patch somewhere? The victims were awarded over 100 MILLION. The story's here somewhere in the TR. Look around for it.
CJ701 Thanks this.
