So... I picked up at a DSC consolidated place in Arlington, TX yesterday... they had the employees in the shipping; receiving office completely blocked off from the drivers..just a small slit that they passed paperwork thru... All their employees had gloves, etc... I get that: but, here’s the problem... that room where we were expected to cram into... about 8 drivers at a time... none staying distance away: one of them was sniffling, sweating, coughing... and got offended when I asked him to move away from me when the employee was passing my paperwork to me.. that sick guy said: “omg: it’s just the flu.... wtf...”
This is why some of us might get sick out here... there are so many out here that just don’t care about us but, still expect to get their goods moved...
I’m all for doing my job as long as I can; but, what happens when and if we get sick out here?? Do we go to a hotel, rent a car; drive the truck to a truckstop and stay in it?? How do we pay our bills while we are quarantined? Sick? Do we get sick pay because we put ourselves out here trying to keep running goods and continue to move freight???
I just think nobody cares about how much we are at risk out here.. it’s just expected... ugh...

No one cares and you discover the people that really are friends, when times are tough.

True that. You learn your few friends in time of trouble.

In the end you do without many.

Mr Flu Sweat should have stayed in the truck until sometime the papers are ready for him checking now and then.

Or go home for several months. Wait out the Pandemic. All the sick would have died off and it will be open again for business.

Sadly some people just don’t get the hint. The bonehead should’ve either stayed home or in the truck until he was feeling better.

The shippers should have a runner bring the paperwork to each truck. That way it is easier to isolate and protect each person.

Report it to the local hospital/police non-emergency line. Just say, FYI, I'm a trucker, I was just at a customer getting (un)loaded and one of the personnel there were coughing.

He was coughing really bad and said he feels real hot, so he must have a fever.

i suffer from seasonal allergies......so does the range safety officer. he and i were both sneezing.

of course, from a safe distance.

and here in lies another problem. people may think that i have that corona virus. all because of my allergies.

worse part here too is, we have had a LOT of rain, and MUCH MORE to come, meaning a huge pollen season for those of us that suffer from seasonal allergies...

in the case of that guy you speak of, "it's just the flu" he said..??

which flu, and why was he not smart enough to stay back?

again, ignorance on the part of another.

that guy reminds me of this "comic" video, but hey, someone may go to the extreme someday...
