I grew up in Suthun Kookafornia and NEVER saw any UGLINESS In Nature, just different Perspectives.
At 27, I moved to North Carolina and have yet to see an "ugly area", apart from love's, flying P and t/a twuck slops.
The only really UGLY truck stops I've haphazardly visited, and which are specifically UGLY, are on the Watermelon 400 around Hotlanta, as well west of, on I-20, to the Alabama line.
I've been to almost all lower 48 in Road Combos (no Oregon, Washington, North or South Dakota) and have seen plenty of UGLY truck stops as well some "ugly" people, but not much of ugly environments, apart from Oil and Natural Gas "environmental damages". Then there are those "wind turbines" = Yuck. THOSE ARE an UGLY BLIGHT on the Surface!!
Lands Annihilated by humans actively destroying environments, Yes, but Natural, NO.
I preferred my trips through and in Texas. Been thru most of Texas except south east of Laredo.
If TEXAS is so "ugly", Drive By Night, that'll "clear up" the "ugliness".
That applies to all other "ugly" States.
