This Driver has had a bad experience, and is honestly concerned as to why. I wish I could find a Driver or 10 that had an attitude like his. Good Job, Keep if up.

When I was active the UJ was something I checked bobtailed coming off hometime. This was about the only time I put my coveralls on. In fact, this was when I checked most everything in the drive train AND took the time to check my battery compartment to make sure all was well and connected. Honestly most times I had up to an hour waiting on a dispatch after sending in my ready QC macro!

It's been a long time since I saw FNG but I think it refers to a Fault Notification Generator. I have seen mechanics called this before. Either that or a mask to bypass the forum censor.

Pretty sure it means "####ing New Guy"

Could very well be. Going back to the 60s I have seen mechanics called a lot of things.

They do go out periodically however, usually when they do go they start to vibrate radically and you'll see it in the mirrors or feel it. They can go out like yours if a driver applied too much torque when starting. You sound like a driver with the proper way to drive when starting out. So if it was caused by a driver it certainly wasn't caused by you. I wouldn't worry what the guy said because mechanics always blame the driver. Maybe it would have been caught if you inspected it but I doubt it. It's not required during a pre-trip and it's just one of those items you check periodically to save you time and money. I never checked the driveshaft everyday and I do not know a driver that does. Maybe I'm wrong but 25 years driving I had 1 driveshaft go out and I caught it before it did any damage. And that was on a Ryder lease tractor.
