Cut the bands on the bundles. Use your crowbar (hook type hopefully) to drag that $h!+ off. If they can't get it off your truck with a forklift they probably don't have a forklift to move it around on site or wherever your delivering. They will be cutting the bands anyways to move it so your actually doing them a favor.

Bottom line,do your job how you would want it done if you were the receiving "customer" (remember that word). Do this and you will go places in life. Do your job with a "I'll show them not to screw with me" attitude and you will go nowhere in life. Most people can/will do a good job in ideal conditions. It takes a strong character to do a good job under challenging conditions and when you do, it doesn't go unnoticed. Bear in mind that, when people DON'T put in an effort to do a good job, that also doesn't go unnoticed. Since the original question was basically 'how do I do this right', you likely already know all this, I just wanted to restate it just in case you were considering some of the juvenile "macho" suggestions.
BTW, I wouldn't "assume" that they want the bands cut because they don't have a forklift. They may only be without it for that one day.lostNfound Thanks this. -

That is an appreciable approach, however sometimes you'll find it doesn't work in the real world. Just be prepared to be used and abused. Not all will, you may find some that will go out of their way to help. When you do, mark them in bold red on the calendar, as it should be recognized as a national holiday.

Yeah I know I will see it all and believe me if someone goes out of their way I do appreciate it.

Worked construction for many years. Saw many times drivers unloading the rebar with prybars. Most of the time the stuff was unloaded with a crane or forklift though. Typically the inspectors don't like the rebar bent up or shock dropped. Rod busters like it neatly stacked for easy pickings as these guys have to hustle it around on their shoulders as well, so they don't want a snarled up mess of long bars twisted up around each other.

While working construction, as an equipment operator, I've got to unload rebar, using forks on a Volvo L-120 wheel loader. Long stuff is a challenge, trying not to drop or bend it.
