'Olhand is right.
People in 4 wheelers look only 20 ft ahead, and the majority are selfish. A good driver realizes that not looking far enough down the road and being unwilling to share the road is lethal.
Now here's the problem...alot of you slow trucks, because you are slow, drive with your radios off, and daydream in your little world not looking far enough down the road to avoid a problem. I will be in the left lane, and flash my headlights, trying to signal you guys to jump left., and you guys won't see trouble on the shoulder until trouble is less than 100 yards from you. First thing you do? Slam on the brakes THEN check your mirrors. "Great, the rookie is coming to a stop." When you slam on the brakes, that puts me beside you. I already scrubbed off 15-20 mph so that you can get in front of me, signaled...etc. I am not going to come to a stop in the left lane.
They're driving an 18. Not paying attention to their mirrors or the road ahead. Can't read road signs while driving. First impulse is to slam on the brakes and cut the steeringwheel. Still do the rookie wiggle when you check your mirrors. Got rid of your radio because the only thing you don't want to be told that you are stupid even though you've been driving for a year or so. Speed limit through the construction zone says 55 and you do 20. If you're in a 1 lane construction zone and there's no one in front of you for 3 miles, yet there's 3 miles of traffic behind you...GUESS WHAT?
No, you're being stupid. It's only a matter of time before you wreck. Can't blame a slow truck...it's not the speed of the truck, it's the speed of the driver. We all just hope that we are in front of you when you mess up. And you are going to mess up.Tonythetruckerdude, 'olhand and Feedlebum Thank this. -
I feel ya.
Catch 22. Do I swear at the guy on the shoulder - the guy passing - or myself for getting s CDL ? -
I'll give you that. There's definitely too many of those out here.'olhand Thanks this.

About a year or so ago, I was traveling a major interstate with an oversized load. I went around a curve and there was a hotshot on the shoulder parked close to the line. Another 18 wheeler was trying to pass me. I thought that I was going to hit either the guy on the side of the road or the truck passing me. I did break a couple of my flags. The guy in the truck was an idiot. He had to see the hotshot. I had on my signal to try and get over and he just speeded up. Another driver did yell out on the CB about the guy on the shoulder right before we saw him. I was fortunate that I didn't hit either truck. My flags went underneath the trailer of the guy who was passing me. There are a lot of unprofessional drivers on the roads and not all of them are in 4 wheelers.

Motor vehicles cause stupidity. If Stephen Hawking could drive he would do so as if he was a perfect imbecile, and the laws of physics do not apply to him.

Did you ever consider blaming the jerk that didn't properly pull off of the road on the shoulder. Granted sometimes it's an emergency and you have to stop, but then again there are people that stop on the shoulder in non emergency situations in the dumbest spots. Pulling off right after a blind corner is a perfect example of what a lot of jerks do on a consistent basis

I know, the nerve of some people.

You got to assume everyone else on the road IS a dangerous driver automatically .....a good driver is one who never effects anyone else on the road ....even then you must prepared for responsive action , don't be surprised how many times other drivers put their lives in your hands ,especially 4 Wheelers ....get involved in a fatality accident ? you do 2yrs in the big house ....this is not a joke
