I guess in my opinion they might pay the best but what does that say about a company if the terminal manager has no idea what his drivers get paid or benefits they recieve? This is a union terminal because we discussed that so I'm still kinda baffled due to the clueless nature of the interview. He seemed desperate to find someone to fill the position even saying that it would be hard to find someone that would even want the position.

I used to work for Saia and their pay is not that high!!!
speedyk Thanks this. -
I was just passing on what the terminal manager told me while he was reviewing my application. I guess Saia is trying to stay competitive but even he said they keep losing drivers to fedex freight.
A few guys I work with have said they have high turnover at Saia so I'm not sure what's up. Kinda funny that we are the lowest paid but not a huge amount of turnover on the linehaul side. -
Management is terrible! I finally decided to leave when they tried to send me to Kansas for a week to help them out. They brought all three new hires (we had 9 months in) in to management office and told us since they couldn't get volunteers to go then we had no choice and had to go. If we refused we would be terminated. HR was standing in the room too!!speedyk Thanks this.

That sounds crappy, we get sent to other terminals to help. They usually ask us first, last time I didn't really have a choice but it was only for half the week. I guess I don't mind it that much but Reddaway is super chill so no one really bothers you.

Yea. I am from Texas. So it's a way out to Kansas. Plus we didn't get paid extra or anything for it. Just didn't want to deal with running local deliveries in a city I am not familiar with! Just a big headache. And seems like they always in need of help at other terminals.
