ok, i didn't call you a "know it all", and i do not think you thought so either, but it is the "general consensus" of many student drivers.

i had a couple of very good student drivers as well, and although i never mentioned it earlier, when they "graduated" from my truck, i bought each one of them a brand new Cobra CB radio, the classic 25. after all, i made money form them driving me around..>!!!!!

yeah, at first our word is "golden" then as time goes by, the newbies get "recycled with another trainer that amazingly passes everyone.>!!

Phase one trainers get $35 a day last I heard, may be $45 now no sure. They get all miles driven for the truck but can not run teams only the 14 hours on his clock (supposedly). So traniee drives lets say 8 hours but there are still 5 hours on the 14hr clock (one hour of stops for easy math) then trainer drives those 5 hours. at average of 55mph youve gone 715 miles and he gets all the miles paid to him.

Phase two trainers get all the miles and no extra per day. But its team driving so potentially 20 hours of driving a day at average of 55mph is 1100 miles paid.

The money may be slightly off but I hope that explains it. At least the way I was told.

Gizmo I agree with you. I was there to learn and I am still learning and hopefully always will be. I try not to be a know it all but sometimes I think I am right and will defend it until I am proven wrong. I will own my mistakes and when I am wrong. Hard to swallow the pride sometimes but I do it when it is needed.

Impact, are you in Van buren now? I have been sitting here for the last 24 while my FM tries to get me a load home to West Memphis. Just found out one is coming in for delivery anytime in the next day. But will not be here until around 8pm. Ugggg holiday weeks suck

Hey Sarge, I've enjoyed your posts. I start FTA on Monday July 12th. I'm retired Army. And retired school teacher! Always wanted to drive though so now it looks like I will start my third career. Keep in touch.

If you get a trainer that barks orders at you, you'll never retain any information and are prone to more screw ups and always on edge. However, if you get a trainer that listens, is calm and shows you how to do the right thing in a professional manner, you will be a great sucess! Your trainer is there to help you thrive in every aspect of the industry. When he or she can do that we all win and people stay safe and alive! Take on each day as a new day and take it all in and you will do just fine! :yes2557:Most importantly, stay positive and be professional!
