Gotta love people who ask for advice, don't like what they hear and go off in a huff.
He's determined to keep driving down rates and wanting to go out of business by going with the lowest paying gig he can find....Pup97, Hurst, blairandgretchen and 4 others Thank this. -
Here we go again.
@Gdog66223 - you did say “Any experiences good or bad”.
Now, the other kids here got bullied a bit at their last school, but they’re really nice kids. (Truckers)
They may say things that hurt your feelings, but they’re actually trying to help you. (Truckers with experience)
The teacher is a real pain - but if he wants you to turn in homework assignments, then you need to do them first, before playing with your toys. ( Teacher = Real World, Homework = business plan).
Now - you take a nap and then you can go outside again and play with your friends.Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
“Bottom Dollar Box Haulers”
You may as well have said “Trailer Trash” .
Come to the front of the class and write on the board 20 times -
“I will strive to improve my vocabulary so that I offend less people “.
Good boy.Blackshack46, Hurst, Broke Down 69 and 2 others Thank this. -
“Bottom Dollar Box Haulers”

Lee,
You made a good choice. -
In all honesty you should have had answers to all of the questions you are now asking long before you ever bought a truck. This is what we like to refer to as putting the cart before the horse.
In my opinion being managed and dispatched by a mega fleet company and allowing them to control your income does not make you an O/O nor will it teach you anything other than being a company driver scraping by with his own truck.
There are many options for the power only O/O to get started. Being that you can not afford a cheap VAN,.. I've seen many for under $10k,.. leads me to believe you are attempting to get started minimalistically. We call this 'One break down away from bankruptcy'.
I know these comments seem rude, impersonal and pretty negative. Truth is that this is a cut throat business. You are either a shark or you are a fish. We all started somewhere. How ever,.. most successful people started a little bit smarter than this.
HurstZVar, Pup97 and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
