Folks, just a friendly reminder that racist comments can be grounds for you to be permanently ban.
I now return you to your original topic.....Thomas0810, Lilbit, bikegoon and 2 others Thank this. -
I gotta say, as a driver for USA, the company is a haven for entry level people. Rookie drivers, dispatchers, technicians and fleet managers. All these rookies with a sprinkling of veterans to make it all go.
Are there mistakes? You bet! More mistakes, I would suspect, than things going correctly. Things like wrong phone numbers for customers, bad QC directions, or just plain driver error. Maintenance is an issue. But USA has given so many people their start in this industry, including me, so I won't find fault without stating the facts.
For most this is an entry level job, period! Most people come from other career fields and have had some level of success and tenure so the expectation for that tenure to transfer to a job job is natural and resonable if your switching jobs in your current field. But to start an entry level job with no experience and expect the best truck or the best dispatch or the best maintenance is not resonable OR wise. I see people here all the time who complain about no miles, bad trucks or maintenance, and poor dispatch. These are the same ones you see in Laredo, then a few weeks later in W. Memphis, then a few weeks later Vandalia or Roanoke (all our terminal locations) #####in about the same things. Taking no accountability for themselves but quick to tell you who did what to them, usually failing to leave out the part that they are a cry baby or complainer who wont move that 40T mistress unless the sun is shining and the load is 1500 miles or better.....and been here 2 months. Then they get the load and dont know how to manage their time to make it on time. Pathetic! Actually, sad. It leaves USA to defend itself against the false claims of these individuals, not withstanding the vast majority of rookies, USA provides opportunity to those who take it. Embrace the life. Communicate well and show up on time. Those people who do those things will have great success here, or anywhere for that matter.
The ones who talk shi* wont tell the whole story! What did they do? You think USA is not making money? WRONG! So are the drivers who do the (4) things I just said above. I know drivers here making 70k annually and some a little more.
If you dont like it leave, I tell all the terminal dwellers that to their face when I see them. We are in the business of hauling frieght and business is good! No company is perfect, remember that!clumben, venne, cholosgirl and 1 other person Thank this. -
amen to that! i worked here for a year and a half the first time never had issues makin money. And you definately see the same guys at the terminals all the time complaining.I just started back this Monday and by Sunday at 1pm i will have 2600 miles in already in my first week back with them.I got the same fleet mgr i had when i left a year and a half ago and he knows i am out here to work not play around.

happy to see that i chose the right spot to begin this journey of mine....
you get what you put into it i guess and that's a good thing....going to Ohio monday for orientation, just a question from people that have been there.....i was thinking about driving to the terminal but had concerns about being able to get it (truck) back home after the training....looking for you guys and gals 2 cents here about this...its a 14 hr drive for me and on a bus, well i may just as well leave now....
-
I'm not sure but here is how I would think it would work...
Go to Orientation (Driving your personal vehicle there)
Do In-Truck Training
Finish Upgrade Test in VanBuren, AR
Get bussed back to Vandalia (from VB)
Drive your personal vehicle back home
Stay at home for a few days (usually 5 or so)
Get bussed to your assigned truck
Hope that helps, but that is what would make sense to me lol.... -
thomaso810 who is your fleet mngr maybe when i get out of school and training i can request him lol
