I'm on my second truck in 7 months. I had a 2008 Prostar which was towed three times because the auto tranny failed. Then they put me in a 2009 Kenworth. It's been towed once for auto tranny failure. When at Van Buren Nov 28-December 5th for services, they replaced the EGR cooler, clutch, and some other things. While I was there, they had 3-4 new Freightliner 10 speeds unnassigned. I begged to get one. Was told no because I didn't have enough experience and hadn't been with the company long enough. Then I watched three of them get picked up by students coming out of upgrade.

Our group manager wanted me reassigned because I was sitting so long without moving. They tried to put me back in an older Prostar with no APU. I just laughed and refused. There is no logic to things some of the management does. Same can be said for the trailers. I've had several brand new 58's and 59's and hauled garbage loads with them. You know, the ones that say "recycled paper" and end up being full of beer and soda bottles and rotting trash.

That really is an issue. Several times I've seen USA trailers get rejected by paper customers (IP, Georgia Pacific) before the driver could get loaded. Those particular customers are really picky about the condition of your trailer and the slightest imperfection can get you sent away empty-handed. We should really start reserving the newer trailers for those accounts and hold off using them for things like trash loads, IMHO.

I went through 4 tractors in 7 months. I was terminated after a long stretch of breakdown after breakdown. I got tired of my average check being under $100, my FM did get me some breakdown pay, but it was like pulling teeth getting his supervisor to approve the money. I finally after weeks of this got enough and called van Buren and started raising mortal hell. I think the genesis of my termination came after my breakdown in WVa, I did not have any way to carry clothes and got a few things and a pillow and blanket and got on the bus to Roanoke. After arriving there I was put on a long run away from my belongings and was told by (Chris) it was not his problem I had no clothes with me. I told Chris I refused to take load and waited on FM to get me a load going back to broke down tractor. There are some great people in dispatch there, but there also are some mean people that don't give a #### about their drivers. If was after expressing this to a management type I got canned.

I have almost 20 years of OTR (a bit over 1 year class A) experience. I have never in my life seen the open contempt this company's maintenance dept has toward the drivers. Maintenance for the most part is nothing but a joke, in all the terminals most of the mechanics don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. And the upper management of the maintenance dept simply don't have a #### clue. This is why I told a USA Truck driver several weeks ago, be thankful your tractor is running good because once it don't you have no guarantees it will ever be totally 100% fixed, and you will find yourself like I was. Wondering what the hell is the major malfunction with the shop.

NO, If you get a 9400 or a Prostar you are for the most part getting an auto. I think the new Freightliners are all 10 speeds.
