At least lay on the air horn and yell "FIRE" into the CB as you pull over to safety to make room for the fire truck lol. Guys like that who burn down their trucks are gonna get the little generators banned.
That's during driving. You can light up a few hickory logs in your fireplace as long as you're parked on private property.
I like saving money, I like not idling, and I like ingenuity. I like beer too; but I digress. OK, now the question: what were you thinking when you chose the location to put your genny?? Do you expect it to live there year round? And has it drawn any remarks in an inspection?
Generator sits on the ground beside the wheel and chained to axle ... I keep it in the cab when going down the road. Never been questioned.
I thought it was mounted to the frame behind the steer axle, after taking a second look I see it's on the ground.
Sorry about splitting hairs. Your point is exact, but I'm pretty sure the flash point of gas (non-liquid) is sub zero. Gasoline as a liquid is non-flammable.
I've run my little generator up under the hood in bad weather, even ran parked regens with it up under there no problems. Nowadays I take it from the front passenger floor straight back to the catwalk and lock it up back there. Can barely hear it and much easier to fuel.
