Well my FM is an idiot...LOL.
I started my day @ 0500 and delivered today @1300. I got another ld assignment @1500 to pick up a load just east of New Orleans. Ld said be there @ 2215 and I sent a message on the QC that my time was up @1900, and can I pick it up now?
Yes, they will load you when you get there, and give me an ETA, so we will know if you're going to be late to deliver it(because it was an impossible load all around).
So I get there and the girl looked at me like an idiot. She says your appt. is @ 2215 and you have to come back then. I ask could I stay there and wait, and she said that wasn't allowed.
So I sent a QC message @ 1720 that I wouldn't be able to make the pick-up, because my time would run out, before they would load me, and I couldn't stay. 3 hours later I have yet to get a response...:smt102
Now I expect to get a question from my FM in the am, asking why I didn't pick it up. My response will be, probably because you said I could pick it up when I got there without actually checking to make sure I could. Basically he was in a hurry to go home for the day and now it hurt him...Unless they got the message and just ignored me and get someone else to go get it...Oh well. -
that seems to be a big problem here. The load cordinators and or fleet mgrs dont look at your available hours and see there is no way you can possibly pick that load up legally.Alot of our customers do not want us parking on their property after we are loaded either. There is alot of wasted hours on these loads we are given.I deliver tomorrow morning at 0500 and my pre plan has me picking up at 1200 tomorrow 30 miles away so a good part of my day will be wasted waiting to go pick up my next load tomorrow.I will do my part in the morning and see whats the earliest they will allow me to come in a get loaded but after working here on and off for 3 years now i have learned not to just show up and assume they will load me early call ahead. If a number is not provided by USA you can call information and get a number or type the address into google maps and more often than not it will provide you with a number to that address.Hope you have better luck tomorrow

It's cool.I woke up about 0630. Finally got the load this morning. FM was wondering why I was asking for a new load. I said go back and read the messages. He said, well the load is still there and go pick it up. I said will they take me when I get there this time? Are you sure? Took a few minutes to get a response to that, so I figured he actually called and made sure this time

Me thinks there's been another house cleaning at the palace. I started wondering last week when my FM (Fleet 6) started working late into the night and on Saturday. It was unusual because he usually comes in around 7 and is out at 4. I asked him what was up and he said he was covering for other FMs. Well this week I ran into a few drivers from other fleets who told me they had received messages apologizing for jacked up loads but that their FMs were being replaced as the old ones were no longer with the company. Several others have said they've been getting calls and messages from Safety and Fuel Economy about log books and idle times.
Scuttlebutt I've heard is that the new VP Operations has been very busy. -
If this is true, that is a very good thing. The amazing thing is how long it takes for the changes to be made, when the complaints have been going on years before now.
