variant doesn't use dispatchers like other companies.... it's a computerized dispatch system.....

 

I’m taking you must work for one of these major companies I don’t see drivers sitting with there bags on curbs trying to get home.Occasionally someone will approach me at a fuel pump with a story about getting turned loose at a trucking company and asking for money to get home.After talking to them for 30 seconds I don’t believe the few I’ve ran across were drivers if they were I understand why the company told them goodbye.If you’re under the impression they have the money to just buy a used car to have it sit I doubt they do.And a $1500 car what does that look like maybe you could get one out of a junkyard that a tree has feel on.As far as have a car parked at a terminal in case you wanted to do something when and if you came through there and taking a break,doesn’t that obvious crappy company you work 4 have a company car for the drivers to use for that purpose or at least let them pc in the tractor.I realize you most live in a 30 year old camper parked in the middle of Desert to be 4 hours away from a metropolitan area it seemed to me you would argue with a stop sign that’s why I posted originally there are exceptions.

 

That’s embarrassing that your son is a grown ### man and you are online complaining about his employment issues. WTH is wrong with you?

 

I trained a guy who quit after three months and went to Variant. He tried to recruit me, apparently they have some kind of quasi-pyramid scheme going where you get kicked back a few CPM for guys you recruit. The whole deal gave off the faint whiff of manure, so I passed.

 

I've only been driving a few years, so I have little to none experience like most on the road.
However, I will tell you I see almost all Truck drivers take abuse over and over again, from lots of people. I think they have a persecution complex and or a Messianic complex to save the world. Getting truckers to stand up to companies to get paid for 2 shifts per day like they should, I don't think you 'll ever see it!!
This is why our younger set doesn't want to play 'persecuted', they know better and guys out of the service all are ' heroes' or told they WERE. They do not see they took a 24 hour a day job to go and kill in another country , not their own, because they thought they would eventually get hailed as heroes , and they were not......... and they wanted free medical and payouts for LIFEtime..... not a real job.

That fact that it’s US Express owned is enough to show it’s basically a mega company’s attempt to re-make themselves as a “real trucker’s company”. It’s similar to JH Hunt’s failed attempt back in the late 90’s/early “aughts”. A moose turd with sugar on it is still a moose turd.

 

Back in 2008 on the show " Myth Busters" polishing a turd was not only shown to be possible but actually yielded stunning results.
