I've been into computers since before there was an internet available.
We used to gasp and wonder how we would ever be able to afford 56k dial up when it came,.. as the majority of us were still on 14.4 or 28.8 baud modems.
Prices remained the same. Even less when Net Zero started competing.
Then the broad band. I can remember the data usage caps. 1 gb per month,.. if you went over the cap your bandwidth was reduced to 128k ISDN speed. I couldnt imagine ever using 1GB of data back then. If I remember correctly,.. my computer only had 128mb or 256mb of ram and I thought that was amazing. How could it get any faster.
Data pipes will expand and we will be using more and more data. I honestly dont see prices going up all that much, if at all. There are still 4 prominent competing carriers jockying for their respective customer base.
Wireless data will all become unlimited and follow the broadband model. This is my prediction. We've all been getting more and more for less and less,.. unlimited will be the final step. They've been fighting it,. but evolution will dictate that they give us more.

Sorry to hear your wireless woahs,.. I thought you said Sprint was working so well for you? They were putting up all these new towers and expanding their coverage exponentially to be so much better than Verizon. Pretty sure if I search,.. I could probably even quote you on much of that BS. LOL
Personally I have no complaints with Verizon. Works where I go, where I am, when I need it. Very few places (Usually very rural out in the middle of no where) that I dont have a signal. My bill is less and now a fixed price point.
I'm pretty content with Verizon's service. I just need for the others to pick up the pace and one up Verizon so my bill gets lowered again.

Speaking of early computers and data modems, I bought my first computer in 1994, a Tandy from Radio Shack about $1400 bucks. 4 megabytes of RAM and 25 megabyte hardrive. It did have a CD drive and the 3.5 inch floppy disk drive. Those disks only had 1.44 megabyte capacity so if you had a 5 megabyte file you'd have to span it over several floppys.
It didn't come with a modem so I went back to Radio Shack and got the 33.3k one a but was leery to install it. Called up a local ISP and took the cpu and modem down there to this room full of nerds who were very impressed with the 33.3k modem lolHurst Thanks this. -
I remember those days. I bought my first one in 1988. 286/20 with 1.5 mb ram. 20mb hdd. No cd roms back then.
I had a 486/33 by 94 95 when I first started using Compu Serve. Internet was pretty limited back then. Mostly just text. Except for porn.. Always had porn. Used to get on irc and trade porn pics.
Now I have an MSI laptop for the road. I7 6820HK processor, 32gb ram, GTX 1080 video card, Main SSD is a 1TB Samsung 850, and secondary 1TB Intel SSD for games. Use a WD 4TB external drive for movies and storage.
Main computer at home is i7 6800k, 32gb ram, GTX 1080ti I just put in, pretty much the SSD set up as the laptop with the addition of two more 4TB WD HDDs for storing mp3's, movies, games, and software. Does have a bluray/cdr burner that I almost never use. Everything is either downloaded or goes on a USB stick.

My Tandy ran on Windows 3.1 OS lol. I later upped it to 25 megabytes of ram and it could read those San Diego Zoo CD's (came with the computer) so much faster. Yes back in those days the internet wasn't much. I soon discontinued my ISP service then a couple years later got back on the net and wow it had exploded. Everyone used their own name for websites which is funny now a days people try to hide their identity online. Back in those days people covered their faces if someone took a picture, nowadays everyone selifie/videos themselves narcy style lol

Yeah Verizon ain't working for me ever since I switched to the unlimited plan. Not every day but at least twice a week when I really need it for things other than entertainment the speeds are so slow that even this web site takes several minutes to load.
I've called Verizon twice, spoke with engineering and now trying one more time before I go looking at other carriers, but it's getting very aggravating.
I learned from engineering during my second call that my iPad was being throttled because I've used 22gb this month so that device is being "prioritized", but they can't figure out why my phone is also being "prioritized" when it has only used 4gb. I was told by one customer service rep that if I would go back to a tiered plan then maybe they could figure out what is happening.
That's just one day out of the many times since I switched to unlimited. Glad you guys are not having these issues cause it's really aggravating. Speeds so intermittent yesterday that the latency test failed 50% of the time. -
That blows.
That would frustrate me to no end. I would not put up with that for long. I'd be cancelling my account and signing up with who ever was better.
I have no patience when it comes to "technical difficulties". I dont want to hear what the problem is. I want what I paid for. Otherwise give me a refund and I'll be on my way.
Sorry your going through that. I'm averaging 100gb a month and for the most part,.. my signal is 100% from one billing cycle to the next. No complaints at all.
I did have a few hours of severe lag when I spent the night in NJ. I half expected it when I got there. I later read that pretty much the whole east coast was having network problems due to some main trunk line routers being hacked and diverted. So who knows if what I experienced that night was actually Verizon's fault or just a freak occurrence. It hasnt happened since then,.. so I cant honestly say.

I'll be home Thursday, going to go get a data sim from T-Mobile and see how their service is when I get back out on the road.
