Videos of texas icy road crashes

Before all these stoopid safety features, there were drivers who racked up 3,4, or more million safe miles. There are no safe vehicles, only safe drivers.

 

You can't assume the road was straight or flat that they could even see that far in front of them. It's easy to judge when looking at a video from the side of the road but different when you are in the seat driving.

On the flip side had they had google maps open with traffic turned on it might have saved some lives...

 

You never know what's around the next corner or hill or......drive like it.

 

Easy to say sitting here.. but most people claiming they are Mr safe aren't when they sit in the driver's seat..

 

When you drive log trucks in the mts during Winter, there's a good chance you will die if you don't.

 

Your right, when they crested the incline it was already to late. Similar to that wreck on the loop in Baltimore 4-5 years ago, only slightly higher speeds on a straight road.

These trucks are slamming into crashed or otherwise stopped vehicles at full speed on an icy road with good visibility.

Drivers should always be aware of surface conditions and clearly the trucks going 60 plus are ignoring this.

Additionally, there was overhead lighting illuminating the pileup wreckage.

And judging from the daytime aerial footage from other news agencies, the road appears flat and straight.

 

Looks like mostly local/regional drivers who have little or no experience driving on slick stuff. Hard to say when they started braking because all the vids are from an angle with the jersey barrier blocking the view of the tires. Several FedEx trucks (expected), shocked not to see Amazon trucks. Does Amazon not run in Texas?
