That's what I was getting at. That's just the way it is today. That's why I mentioned Swift school; no obligation to stay after graduation. Go to any good CDL school though. Probably go right to Leavitt's Freight Service right in Springfield, OR making some good money after graduation.

Don't buy in to the old "find an owner-operator to train you" story. Those days are over except for an extremely few people that have a family member willing to risk everything to train someone that only has a permit and is uninsurable. Lawsuits run into the 10's of millions of dollars these days so it just not worth the risk.

There is a place here in MO that runs a day class for about $300 that runs you through a refresher course and tests you.

If you have permit and confidence, then pass the skills test, you get your license. You're basically paying for a day's truck rental.

Anything like that available up there ?

Of course, then you're in the next box - Have CDL, no verified experience.

As said, maybe Swift or Prime . . .

Good luck - you're miles ahead of the usual curve on here.

Prime would of work out for him. While being trained with your permit to earn your CDL, you can get up to $200 cash advance every week for the 3-4 weeks you are out. But when your in training, you will have to pay that back. Training pay would be good for you $600 guaranteed or 12cpm for over 5,000 miles. You wont pay them nothing back as long as you stay for a year. That is one of the best options for you
