Its being pushed by the unions. I haven't heard if the ATA has taken a position on it.

You may be right, but they do care about votes, and the lack of them especially.

I think the Pro Act is attached inside of the Invest in America Act, I may be wrong, but BOTH are definitely a huge threat to us. They both need to be squashed.

So…… wouldn’t a work around be that Landstar would just “sell” the contract to ABC family trucking to bypass this new law ?

    True.

And as someone mentioned in another thread, it's time these issues were put out to the broader public. Show how it will effect everyone, not just us.

We would all have to form a corporation of some sort, with it's own operating authority, and hire ourselves as drivers. Then the corporation could run under contract (I think). But doing all that would defeat the purpose of being leased on.

That’s ok, they don’t need any of the truck drivers not their families votes, the rest will.

Good reading and I'm not being a jerk. But why would you classify as a contractor. Im not currently leased on. But have been. I never signed anything but a Equipment lease. My personal self worked for my company. I was never contracted myself to anyone. Company A pays Company B for service. Company B is responsible for thier employee wages, not Company A.

So true, but how? If definitely needs more coverage. I've been doing all that I can by spreading the word on this site as well, telling friends and family, and contacting my states reps, not just once but 3 TIMES!
